WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Winners of five straight, William & Mary men's basketball hits the road to take on Delaware on Thursday evening at the Bob Carpenter Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on FloHoops.
The Tribe's remaining 13 CAA games will be streamed on FloHoops. A

W&M News and Notes
- W&M is 5-0 to start CAA play for the third time in school history. As of Jan. 14, W&M is one of two teams nationally with a 5-0 conference record, along with San Diego State (7-0). The only time W&M started CAA play better than 5-0 was when it completed the 1982-83 season at 9-0 in the ECAC South, which was the precursor to the CAA. It marks the seventh time in W&M history the Tribe has started league play at 5-0 or better.
- Defense has been the Tribe's calling card during its 5-0 league start. In CAA games, W&M leads the league defensively in scoring (63.4), field goal % (39.4), effective field goal % (44.6) and 2-point % (.455), while ranking second in defensive efficiency (96.4) and 3-point % (28.7). Overall, W&M leads the CAA in field goal % defense (40.8).
- W&M's offense has been hitting on all cylinders in league play. In CAA games, the Tribe leads the league in offensive efficiency (113.7), field goal % (51.5), effective field goal % (58.3) and 2-point % (59.3) along with ranking second in scoring (74.8). Overall, W&M ranks sixth nationally in effective field goal % (55.5), 27th in field goal % (47.7), 52nd in 3-point % (36.5) and 74th in free throw % (73.6).
- This season, the Tribe is 9-0 when holding teams to less than 70 points and 8-0 when teams fail to shoot 40% from the field. The Tribe has held each of its last four opponents to less than 65 points and an average 61, while three of W&M's last four foes have shot less than 40% from the field.
- Senior
Nathan Knight, who was listed among the top 25 players in the country by ESPN.com recently, has posted four-straight double-doubles and leads the country with 14 on the year. He is one of two players nationally averaging 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. Knight is 17th in the country in rebounding (10.4) and 24th in scoring (20.0). He ranks fifth, among players with a 28% or higher usage rate, in offensive rating according to KenPom.com (116.6).
- Knight and
Andy Van Vliet have been double trouble for Tribe opponents. They are the only teammates in the country averaging 14 points and nine rebounds per game. They are only the fifth teammates to do so since 1992-93. Knight and Van Vliet are also the only pair of teammates in the country with at least eight double-doubles apiece. Along with Knight leading the country, Van Vliet is 16th at eight double-doubles. They have both tallied a double-double in the same game six times, including last week's win over UNCW.
- The Tribe was named the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division I Team of the Week on Jan. 7. During the week of Dec. 30-Jan. 5, W&M won three road games in six days to start CAA play. As part of its league start, the Tribe swept the league's northeast road trip of the first time with wins at Hofstra and Northeastern.
- W&M leads the country in road wins with seven. The Tribe became the first program in the history of the CAA to start 3-0 with all three wins on the road. It marked the 12th time in program history that Green and Gold picked up seven road wins. The Tribe tied a school record with three-straight road wins to open the year, including snapping Wofford's 17-game home win streak, the fourth-longest in the country, on Nov. 12.
- In the NCAA.com's March Madness Power 36 by Andy Katz, the Tribe was rated No. 36 in the country on Monday. After earning its first CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 ranking since 2016 last week, W&M moved up to a CAA-best No. 19 this week.
- Knight has been named the CAA Player of the Week a league-high six times, including on Jan. 6. He averaged 21 points and 9.7 rebounds per game during the three CAA road wins. He scored W&M's final nine points at Northeastern including the game-winner with 1.1 seconds left. Knight, who previously earned honors on Dec. 2 and Dec. 9, tied the program record of six career honors previously held by former All-American Marcus Thornton '15.
- W&M head coach
Dane Fischer has been recognized by Stadium, ESPN and NCAA.com for the Tribe's success this season. This week, Jeff Goodman of Stadium had Fischer seventh on his power rankings for national coach of the year. NCAA.com writer Mike Lopresti ranked Fischer No. 8 on the list of first-year head coaches. ESPN's Jeff Borzello listed him among three coaches in his Mid-Major surprises as part of his first-year coaching scorecard.
- Junior
Luke Loewe is enjoying a breakout season. He ranks second in the CAA in 3-point % (46.0) and ranks fifth in field goal % (55.8). According to KenPom.com, the 6-4 guard is 19th nationally in 3-point % against DI competition (48.9), 15th in effective field goal % (66.3) and 24th in true shooting % (67.3). Loewe doubled his previous career-high with 26 points in the win over Morehead State and is averaging 11.2 points per game, which is 23rd in the CAA.
- After missing nine games due to injury, sophomore
Thornton Scott returned with the start of CAA play. He is averaging seven points and 4.2 assists per game in 22 minutes since returning. In league games, Scott leads the CAA in assists and is second in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.3). W&M is 8-0 this season with Scott in the lineup.
- Knight was named to the mid-season watch list for CollegeInsider.com's Lute Olsen National Player of the Year Award and Lou Henson Mid-Major Player of the Year award. He was also selected to the Oscar Robertson Trophy Watch List by the USBWA on Dec. 6. For the second-straight year, Knight was one of 20 players named to the preseason watch list for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year award after being one of five finalists in 2019.
- Loewe has been impressive defensively to start CAA play. As the primary defender, he held three of the CAA's top-four scoring guards – Grant Riller (21.9), Northeastern's Jordan Roland (21.6) and Hofstra's Desure Buie (19.1) – to just 9-of-40 shooting (22.5%) and an average of nine points per game. Both Roland (7) and Rillers (10) posted season-low scoring totals.
- In 12 of its 18 games, the Tribe has outrebounded its opponent and W&M is 10-2 in those contests. The Tribe leads the CAA and ranks 51st nationally in rebounding margin (+5.6).
