WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary head women's basketball coach Ed Swanson announced the 2019-20 schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The slate is highlighted by five home games, a six teams that appeared in the 2018-19 postseason, and five in-state rivals.
 
"We have once again put together an exciting slate of games for this year," Swanson said. "The schedule has once again put together a good mix of quality teams in the non-conference as well as keeping natural rivalries intact. The CAA schedule is always competitive, and we know the non-conference portion will prepare us for that challenge."
 
The Tribe will get a taste of life on the road to open the non-conference schedule as three of its first four games are away from Kaplan Arena. W&M opens the 2019-20 season as it travels to Army on Tuesday, Nov. 5. It will be only the fourth time the two programs have met and it is the first meeting since 2001. The Green and Gold also continues series against former CAA schools as part of the trip with games at East Carolina (Nov. 12) and Richmond (Nov. 20).
 
W&M will open the first of 14 games at Kaplan Arena on Saturday, November 9. The Tribe welcomes Maryland Eastern Shore for a contest at 6 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since 1993.
 
Following its road start, W&M returns home for a pair of games at the end of November. The Tribe welcomes UMBC to Kaplan Arena on Nov. 23, before it concludes its home and home series with Hartford, which participated in the 2019 WNIT, on Nov. 26.
 
Much like the non-conference schedule started it wraps up with three of five games away from Williamsburg. That swing starts as the Green and Gold heads to Delaware State on Nov. 30. Before the exam break, W&M plays a pair of long-time rivals that both played in the WNIT a season ago. The Tribe welcomes Old Dominion on Thursday, Dec. 5, before heading to VCU on Sunday, Dec. 8.
 
Following a 12-day layoff for exams, W&M closes the home portion of non-conference play by welcoming Norfolk State to Kaplan on Dec. 20. The game will be the first-ever Tomorrow's Tribe, education game, and will tip-off at noon. More information on that game is available here.  The final non-conference game will be a trip to the Nation's Capitol to take on George Washington on Dec. 29.
 
Once again, the CAA will play a true round-robin schedule and also use travel partners for the second straight year. W&M opens the conference schedule with a road trip to CAA regular-season champion James Madison on Jan. 3, before heading to tournament championships Towson on Jan. 5. The Tribe's road CAA schedule includes at Hofstra (1/17), at Northeastern (1/19), at Elon (1/31), at Charleston (2/7), at UNCW (2/9), at Drexel (2/21), and at Delaware (2/23).
 
W&M opens the home portion of the schedule over the weekend of Jan. 10. UNCW comes to W&M on Friday, Jan. 10, before Charleston heads to town on Jan. 12. The Tribe closes the month of January by hosting Delaware (1/24) and WNIT participant Drexel (1/26). W&M hosts Northeastern on Feb. 14, and Hofstra on Feb. 16, before closing the regular season with three straight home games against Elon (2/28), Towson (3/5), and James Madison (3/7).
 
Elon will host the 2020 CAA Women's Basketball Championship at the Schar Center this year. The Tournament runs from Wednesday, March 11 through Saturday, March 14.
 
W&M won at least 15 games for the fifth straight season in 2018-19. The Green and Gold returns four starters, including reigning CAA Rookie of the Year Eva Hodgson as well as senior Victoria Reynolds, who has averaged double-figures each of the past two seasons.
