Tribe Baseball Seniors Bodie Sheehan, Hunter Smith Honored by the ABCA

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary baseball seniors Bodie Sheehan and Hunter Smith were both tabbed to the ABCA/Rawlings Second-Team All-East Region the American Baseball Coaches Association announced on Thursday afternoon.
 
Sheehan, who earned a spot on the All-CAA Third-Team, tossed a team-high 91.2 innings, and went 5-2 allowing 25 runs (23 earned) on 83 hits, while striking out 56, and only walking 14. He was even better in CAA play as he compiled a 2.24 ERA, with three wins, and 43 strikeouts in 52.1 innings. In his 14 starts this season, 10 of them were quality starts. The southpaw concludes his Tribe career with 58 career starts, which is the most in program history. He also ranks second with 351.1 innings, seventh in strikeouts (237), ninth in fewest walks per nine innings (2.18), 10th in wins (17), and 10th in pickoffs (6).
 
Smith was named to the Second-Team All-CAA and he finished the regular season with a .274 (58-for-212) batting average, while adding 13 doubles, a triple, and team-bests 12 homers, and 40 RBI. In CAA play, Smith connected on half of his homers (6) and drove in 11 runs, while adding three doubles, and scoring 16 times. For his Tribe career, the Caldwell, N.J. native appeared in 210 games with 214 hits, 40 doubles, three triples, 28 homers, and 148 RBI. Smith ranks in the top-10 offensively in sacrifice flies, at bats, games played, homers, RBI, and most games started. He was also tabbed as a Second-Team CoSIDA/Google Cloud Academic All-American.
 
The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 11,000 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.
