W&M News and Notes
- Junior Brandon Raquet provided the power and the pitching staff made it stand up as William & Mary upended James Madison, 2-1, in the opening round of the Colonial Athletic Association Championship on Thursday afternoon. Raquet continued his torrid pace of late with a two-run fourth-inning home run to give the Tribe (32-20) all the scoring it would need. Junior right-hander Wade Strain was strong into the seventh inning before giving way to the bullpen duo of sophomore Justin Pearson and redshirt junior Chris Farrell. In total, the Tribe trio pitched around 10 JMU hits and stranded 11 Dukes runners.

- W&M and Charleston meet for the 24th time in series history all since the Cougars entered the CAA prior to the 2013-14 athletic year. The Cougars lead the all-time series 14-9, including a 4-1 advantage in CAA Tournament play. However, the Tribe swept the regular season series this year at Plumeri Park. Junior Brandon Raquet led the Tribe in the three-game series going 7-for-12 with two homers, four RBI, and four runs scored. The Tribe won a pair of extra inning affairs on the weekend getting walk-offs from sophomore Matt McDermott and freshman Jack Cone.

- Raquet has been on a torrid pace of late, and is one of the hottest hitters in all of the country. During his last eight games, the Boalsburg Pa. native is hitting .484 (15-for-31) with four homers and 14 RBI. In game one, he provided both the of Tribe's runs with his seventh homer of the season.

- With yesterday's win, W&M improved to 8-7 in the CAA Tournament under head coach Brian Murphy, including a 3-2 mark in its first game of the evebt. Under the direction of Murphy, the Tribe has reached the CAA title game twice, including winning the CAA Tournament in 2016 and advancing the Charlottesville Regional Final.
