Junior Brandon Raquet Earns Second CAA Player of the Week Award

RICHMOND, Va. – For the second time in three weeks, William & Mary baseball junior Brandon Raquet has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week the league announced on Monday afternoon.

Raquet has been on fire of late, and continued his hot streak as he hit .545 (6-for-11) with a triple, homer, four runs scored, and eight RBIs as the Tribe clinched the No. 3 seed in the CAA Tournament with a series win at Hofstra. The junior had two hits and drove in multiple runs in all three games, but his best performance came in game two Friday, as he went 2-for-4 with four RBI in the 12-2 win. Raquet closed the regular season hitting .500 (14-for-28) with a triple, three homers, and 12 RBI across the last seven games to help the Tribe earn the bid to the tournament.

The award makes it seven CAA weekly awards for the Tribe this year as Raquet wins his second of the season. The junior now has four CAA Weekly awards for his career with his two this season matched with a pair of rookie of the week honors during his freshman campaign.  Junior Wade Strain has been named CAA Pitcher of the Week, sophomore Matt McDermott earned a player of the week honor, and freshmen Tristan Snyder and Zach Tsakounis (twice) have been named CAA Rookie of the Week to round out the rest of the Tribe's weekly awards this season.

W&M earned the No. 3-seed for the upcoming CAA Baseball Tournament at Veterans Memorial Park on the campus of James Madison University. The Tribe will square off with the host and No. 6-seeded Dukes in an opening round game on Wednesday, May 22. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
