LYNCHBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's tennis team captured the doubles point for the eighth time in the last 11 matches, but Liberty rallied with four singles victories to pull out a 4-2 match on Monday afternoon at the Cook Tennis Center.

How It Happened
- Senior Lauren Goodman and junior Charlotte Madson raced out to a 4-0 lead at No. 3 doubles and the way to a 6-1 win over Anna Dollar and Ashley Bongart. The Tribe duo won for the eighth time this season and improved to 6-3 at No. 3 with its third-straight win. Dollar and Bongart entered the match at 10-3 at No. 3 on the year and had won three in a row.
- Liberty (13-6) responded with a win at No. 2 and the initial point of the match came down to a tiebreaker match at the top spot. Senior Clara Tanielian and sophomore Vitoria Okuyama jumped out to a 4-1 lead before the LU tandem of Lara Soares and Maria Medina won five of the next six games and the match eventually went to a breaker. For the second time in as many days, Tanielian and Okuyama clinched the doubles point for the Tribe (7-12) downing the Flames pair, 7-6 (5). They improved to 8-2 on the year with seven wins at No. 1.
- Liberty responded in singles, winning five of the six first sets. The Flames won the first three singles matches off the court at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 to take a 3-1 lead.
- At No. 6, Madson won for the sixth time in her last seven matches to draw the Tribe within 3-2. The Tribe junior topped Grace Hashiguchi, 6-4, 6-4, for her 12th win of the year. Mason pushed her dual-match ledger to 10-7.
- Maria Medina provided the clincher for the Flames at the No. 4 spot. After Medina won the opening set 6-3, freshman Mila Saric rallied from a 4-1 deficit to force a second-set tiebreaker. Medina pulled out the tiebreaker, 7-2, to cement Liberty's win.
- After dropping the opening set to Ashley Bongart, junior Rosie Cheng rallied to win the second set, 6-1, at the top spot. The match was abandoned in the third with the team result deficit.
