WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's tennis team continues its homestand welcoming in-state foe Virginia Tech to Williamsburg on Wednesday. The Tribe's third contest against the ACC is slate for an 11 a.m. start time from the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
Fans can watch all the Tribe tennis action at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center via PlaySight. Scouting the Tribe
- The Tribe split its matches last week and saw its two-match win streak come to an end against Memphis. The Green and Gold won at Big Ten foe Maryland, 4-2, on Friday before suffering a narrow 4-3 setback at home against the Tigers.
- W&M has won the doubles point in each of its last four matches, including both tilts last week. Sophomore
Vitoria Okuyama and senior
Clara Tanielian have clinched the initial point in three of the last four matches, including each one against Memphis and Maryland. The duo is 5-0 in dual-match play and a perfect 4-0 at No. 1.

Natalia Perry and freshman
Mila Saric, who were named the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on Jan. 31, are 7-3 in doubles action and currently playing at the No. 2 spot. Senior
Lauren Goodman and junior
Charlotte Madson are 2-1 at the No. 3 spot, including a win against Memphis.
- Goodman and Saric went a perfect 2-0 in singles last week and have won each of her last four matches.
- Saric clinched the Tribe's 4-2 win over Maryland with a three-set win at No. 3. She is a team-best 12-7 overall and 8-2 in dual-match competition. Goodman is 10-7 overall and 6-3 in duals.
- The match with Virginia Tech will be the Tribe's sixth against a major conference opponent and third against the ACC this season.
- W&M owns 32 wins over major conference opponents over the last 10 years, including its victory over Maryland on March 1.
- Since 2010, W&M owns 11 victories over ACC competition.
- Three of the Tribe's setbacks this season have come to top-50 opponents, including losses to current No. 19 Wake Forest, No. 25 Virginia and No. 37 Kansas State.
- W&M's remaining 2019 schedule includes three more matches against top-50 teams. The Tribe takes on No. 38 Rice on March 23 in New Jersey and travels to No. 48 VCU on March 30. The Green and Gold hosts current No. 24 Old Dominion on April 13.
- On Feb. 26, the trio of Goodman, Cheng and Saric joined a W&M-record 164 Provost Awards for 2018-19 school year. The Provost Awards, now in their 16th year, recognize athletes who have a cumulative GPA over 3.5 in their careers.
- Former Tribe women's tennis standout Megan Moulton-Levy '07 will be inducted into the W&M Athletics Hall of Fame on May 4. Megan Moulton was a six-time All-American and a four-time CAA Player of the Year during her career and won a national doubles championship in 2006. Click

Scouting Virginia Tech
- The Hokies sit at 5-7 overall on the year, including a 1-4 mark in the ACC.
- Virginia Tech has dropped each of its last three matches to top-20 programs in ACC play. The Hokies fell at No. 14 Virginia, 6-1, before dropping home tilts with No. 15 Florida State, 5-2, and No. 19 Miami (Fla.), 6-1, over the weekend.
- Prior to its three-match losing streak, the Hokies won four in a row, including lone ACC victory. VT topped Pitt, 5-2, on Feb. 22.
- Virginia Tech has won two matches against CAA competition, downing James Madison and Delaware, both by 7-0 scores, in Blacksburg.
- Along with Virginia, the Tribe and Hokies have one other common opponent in Purdue. Both teams suffered 4-3 setbacks to the Boilermakers.
- Junior Natalie Novotna, who is a two-time All-ACC performer, leads the VT lineup going 6-4 at No. 1. She is currently ranked No. 101 nationally after finishing last season at No. 52 in the country.
- Sophomore Nika Kozar is 7-3 at No. 2 singles, while freshman Samantha Giles owns a team-best dual-match record of 8-4, playing as high as No. 3 in the lineup.
- In doubles, Novotna and Rita Pinto have teamed together recently at the top spot, going 2-2 in ACC competition. Kozar and Nina Sorkin are a team-best 5-4 overall in doubles, including a 4-2 at No. 2.
Series History: W&M vs. Virginia Tech
- W&M leads the all-time series at 16-4, including a 7-4 mark in Williamsburg.
- The teams meet for the first time since 2014, and the Hokies have won two of the last three meetings.
- Between 1984 and 2011, the Tribe won 12 straight in the series.
- Virginia Tech has won each of the last two meetings in Williamsburg, including a 7-0 triumph in the last meeting in 2014.
- The teams played four-straight years from 2011-14 with each team winning twice on the other's home court.
