WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's tennis team welcomes a pair of Big East opponents in DePaul and Georgetown to Williamsburg to wrap up a four-match homestand.
The Tribe hosts the Blue Demons on Saturday, March 30, at noon, before squaring off with the Hoyas on Tuesday, April 2, at 3 p.m. Both matches are scheduled for the
Millie West Tennis Facility, weather permitting.
Scouting the Tribe
- W&M had its two-match win streak snapped by Middle Tennessee last weekend in Williamsburg. Prior to the setback, the Green and Gold picked up its first two wins of the year, downing George Washington, 7-0, and ECU, 4-1.
- Freshman
Oren Vasser recorded his 11th win of the year at the No. 4 spot to provide the Tribe with its lone victory against the Blue Raiders.
- The Tribe has captured the doubles point in four of its last six contests.

Brenden Volk and sophomore
Chen Ruo, who were the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on March 6, have found a home at the top doubles spot with a pair of wins at the post. Senior

Oren Vasser, who earned team of the week honors on Feb. 27, are 4-1 at No. 2, while sophomores
Sebastian Quiros and
Finbar Talcott are 4-3 at No. 3.
- Quiros moved up to the top singles spot prior to the George Washington match and won two in a row. He was dominant in his win against ECU, winning 10 of the final 11 games to give the Tribe a 3-0 lead with a straight-sets win over Vlad Anghel. Quiros clinched the victory over GW.
- In the win over ECU, W&M won at the top three singles posts to claim the victory. Along with Quiros, Volk and Talcott tallied straight-sets triumphs at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Both players won their second in a row against the Pirates, while Talcott clinched the team victory, handing Javier Renones his first dual-match loss at No. 3.
- Four of the Tribe's losses this season have come to teams currently in the national top 50, including No. 2 Florida, No. 4 Virginia, No. 37 Penn State and No. 48 Penn. The Tribe has also played five matches against major conference opponents.

Chen Ruo and Sebasitan Quiros joined a W&M-record 164 Provost Awards for 2018-19 school year. The Provost Awards, now in their 16th year, recognize athletes who have a cumulative GPA over 3.5 in their careers.
Scouting DePaul
- DePaul is 10-9 on the year after dropping the first two matches of its trip to Virginia. The Blue Demons opened the trip with a 5-2 setback at Richmond before falling at Old Dominion, 6-1, on Thursday.
- The Blue Demons are 4-1 in Big East play. They knocked off Georgetown (4-1), Creighton (4-3), Xavier (5-2) and Villanova (6-1) with its lone setback coming at Marquette (5-2).
- Freshman Vito Tonejc plays at the top singles spot for DePaul and owns a 9-2 ledger at the post. He is 18-10 on the year, including a 14-4 dual-match record.
- Junior Boris Spanjaard, who was a First Team All-Big East pick last season, is 16-13 overall, including six wins at the top two spots.
- Junior Fran Tonejc, Vito's older brother, is tied with his sibling for the team lead in singles wins at 18-12 overall, including a 10-8 dual-match mark, primarily at No. 4.
- In doubles, Spanjaard and Christ Casatli own six wins, including a 3-5 mark at the No. 1 position. Fran and Vito Tonejc are 14-10 overall and 5-4 at No. 2, while Conor O'Meara and Luuk Wassenaar are 10-3 at No. 3.
Series History: W&M vs. DePaul
- The Tribe leads the all-time series with DePaul at 3-0, including wins in the last two meetings in Williamsburg.
- The Tribe won the most recent tilt in 2017 with five singles victories. In 2010, W&M edged the Blue Demons by a 4-3 margin.
- The first meeting between the team came in 1999 when the Tribe topped DePaul, 4-2, in Notre Dame, Ind.
Scouting Georgetown
- The Hoyas are 3-10 on the year and have dropped their last seven matches.
- Most recently, Georgetown dropped three on its trip to Florida, March 3-5. The Hoyas fell to Barry, 7-0, Lynn, 5-2, and UT Arlington, 5-2, on three-straight days.
- The Hoyas have played two CAA teams dropping a 5-2 decision to James Madison and a 4-3 match-up with Drexel.
- Georgetown's victories on the year came in three-straight matches against George Washington, Xavier and Longwood. All three were at home by 4-3 score lines.
- The Hoyas are 1-2 against the Big East.
- Andrew Rozanov and Luke Ross lead Georgetown with nine singles wins apiece. Rozanov is a team-best 8-5 in dual-match play with victories in three straight playing primarily at the No. 4 post.
- The Hoyas have struggled at the top two singles posts, going 3-23 overall.
- In doubles, Georgetown is just 10-24 in dual-match action. Rohan Kamdar and Connor Lee are a team-best 11-6 overall, including three wins at the No. 1 spot.
Series History: W&M vs. Georgetown
- The Tribe leads the all-time series with Georgetown at 3-0. All three wins have come in Williamsburg.
- The teams meet for the first time since a 5-2 win over W&M in 2012.
- W&M and Georgetown squared off in back-to-back seasons in 1996 and 1997 with the Tribe posting 6-1 and 5-2 victories, respectively.
