WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Winners of two straight, the William & Mary men's tennis team welcomes Conference USA foe Middle Tennessee to the
Millie West Tennis Facility on Sunday, March 24. The match, which is slated for an 11 a.m. start, is the second of a five-match homestand.
Scouting the Tribe
- W&M won both its matches last week, sweeping George Washington, 7-0, and tallying a 4-1 victory over ECU to kick-off its homestand.
- The Tribe captured the doubles point in both matches last week and have claimed in the initial point in four of its last five contests.

Chen Ruo, who were the CAA Doubles Team of the Week on March 6, have found a home at the top doubles spot with a pair of wins at the post. Senior

Oren Vasser, who earned team of the week honors on Feb. 27, are 4-1 at the No. 2 doubles post, while sophomores
Sebastian Quiros and
Finbar Talcott are 4-2 at No. 3.
- Quiros moved up to the top singles spot last week and compiled a 2-0 mark. He was dominant in his win against ECU, winning 10 of the final 11 games to give the Tribe a 3-0 lead over straight-sets win over Vlad Anghel. Quiros clinched the victory over GW.
- In the win over ECU, W&M won at the top three singles posts to claim the victory. Along with Quiros, Volk and Talcott tallied straight-sets triumphs at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. Both players won their second in a row against the Pirates, while Talcott clinched the team victory, handing Javier Renones his first dual-match loss at No. 3.

Jack Kelly (No. 5) and Ruo (No. 6) won at the bottom three singles slots. It was Ruo's third win in the last four matches.
- Five of the Tribe's losses this season have come to teams currently in the national top 50, including No. 4 Florida, No. 5 Virginia, No. 39 Penn, No. 47 Penn State and No. 50 Princeton. The Tribe has also played five matches against major conference opponents.

Chen Ruo and Sebasitan Quiros joined a W&M-record 164 Provost Awards for 2018-19 school year. The Provost Awards, now in their 16th year, recognize athletes who have a cumulative GPA over 3.5 in their careers.
Scouting Middle Tennessee
- The Blue Raiders are 9-9 on the year with seven of their nine losses coming to national top-50 opponents, including the last three against top-25 foes.
- After dropping threes-straight to No. 12 Oregon, No. 19 Tennessee and No. 22 Arizona, Middle Tennessee posted a 4-3 win over ETSU on March 15 thanks to a Max Rauch win at No. 4 singles.
- Middle Tennessee has won the doubles point on 12 occasions this season, including nine of its last 11 matches.
- Tom Moonen (1-1), Gonzalo Morrell Raschiatore (2-4) and Stijn Slump (3-6) have all spent time at the top singles post. Slump and Morrell Raschiatore own eight and six wins, respectively, at the top two spots, while Moonen has six wins at the No. 3 position.
- Pavel Motl leads the Blue Raiders with an 11-6 dual-match singles record, including an 8-3 mark at No. 6.
- In doubles, Chris Edge and Moonen are 10-3 at No. 1 and have won each of their last three matches. The duo is ranked No. 52 nationally. Motl and Morrell Raschiatore are 10-2 as a tandem, including a 2-1 mark at No. 2.
Series History: W&M vs. Middle Tennessee
- W&M and Middle Tennessee square off for the third-straight year. The all-time series is split at three apiece, and Middle Tennessee has won the last two match-ups.
- Last season, the Blue Raiders topped W&M, 5-2, in Murfreesboro.
Brenden Volk tallied one of the Tribe's singles wins.
- In 2017, MT squeaked out a 4-3 win in Williamsburg, pulling out a pair of three-set singles wins to clinch the victory.
- The teams met four times between 2004 and 2009, including three times in the Blue Gray Classic in Montgomery, Ala. The other meeting was in the Rice Invitational in 2007. W&M won the first three meetings with the Blue Raiders by narrow 4-2 and 4-3 scores in 2004 and 2007. The teams met twice in 2007 at both events. Middle Tennessee topped the Tribe, 4-1, in the 2009 Blue Gray Classic.
