Women's Tennis Sweeps George Washington, 7-0

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's tennis team got back on the winning track with a dominating 7-0 sweep of George Washington on Sunday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. After claiming the doubles point, the Tribe (3-7) won five of the six singles matches in straight sets to upended the Colonials (3-3).

How It Happened
- The Tribe captured the doubles point with matching 6-3 wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions. Senior Lauren Goodman and junior Charlotte Madson gave the Green and Gold the early lead, downing Xenia de Luna and Victoria Kogan on line three. It marked the Tribe pair's third win of the year.
- At No. 2, junior Natalia Perry and freshman Mila Saric continued their strong doubles play. The duo jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Katarina Marinkovikj and Sara Grubac on the way to the 6-3 triumph. It marked the pairs' second-straight win of the weekend as they moved to 6-2 on the year.
- The Tribe ripped off three singles wins in rapid succession to cement the victory over the Colonials. Saric won for the second time on the weekend and 10th time overall, downing Marinkovikj, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4. She pushed her dual-match singles ledger to a team-best 6-2.
- Perry quickly followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Melis Bayraktaroglu on the second line. The Tribe junior posted her 10th win of the year and evened her mark to 4-4 at No. 2.
- For the second time this season, Madson clinched the Tribe victory with a win at No. 6. She dropped just three total games in a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kogan. Madson moved to 4-4 in dual-match play with her sixth victory of the year.
- In a match-up of reigning conference players of the year, junior Rosie Cheng topped Maria Siopacha, 6-1, 7-5. Siopacha was the A-10 Co-Most Outstanding Player last season. Cheng notched her sixth win of the season and third at the top spot.
- Seniors Clara Tanielian and Goodman rounded out the Tribe sweep as both players improved to 8-7 in singles action. Tanielian defeated Grubac in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, at No. 3, while Goodman needed three sets for her win at No. 5. After dropping the first set to Xenia de Luna, 6-2, Goodman bounced back with a 6-3 win in the second and outlasted her GW opponent in the third-set super tiebreaker, 11-9. Tanielian moved to 4-3 at the No. 3 spot, and Goodman improved to 4-3 in dual-match play.
