RICHMOND, Va. – The Colonial Athletic Association announced its preseason awards and prognostications as part of its digital media day on Thursday afternoon.
Senior
Victoria Reynolds earned a Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention honor, while the Tribe was selected to finish seventh by a vote of league head coaches.
Reynolds enters her senior season just 211 points from 1,000 career points, and has averaged double-figures in each of the last two seasons. The senior appeared in 31 games with 27 starts last season scoring 338 points (10.9 ppg.), 164 rebounds (5.3 rpg), 71 assists, 21 blocks, 40 steals. For her career she has appeared in 89 games with 57 starts, 789 points (8.9), 654 rebounds (5.2 reb.), and 152 assists. Reynolds has been in double-figures in 39 career games, including 20 a season ago.
2019 regular season champion James Madison (81 points, nine first place) was selected to win the 2020 CAA title ahead of Drexel (70 points, one first place) and 2019 CAA Tournament Champions Towson (65 points). Delaware (59 points), UNCW (47 points), Northeastern (40 points) were selected ahead of the Tribe. Elon (28 points), Charleston (15 points) and Hofstra (13 points) round out the league's preseason poll.
The Green and Gold returns four starters from last year's team, including double-figure scorers Reynolds, and reigning CAA Rookie of the Year
Eva Hodgson. The Tribe has won, at least, 15 games in each of the last five seasons.
W&M opens the season with a road game at Army on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The Tribe then returns to Williamsburg for its home opener at Kaplan Arena on Saturday, Nov. 9 when it plays host to Maryland-Eastern Shore. Tip times are slated for 7 p.m. and 6 p.m., respectively.
