AKRON, Ohio – The William & Mary men's golf team shot its best round of the Firestone Invitational with a 289 (+1) in final round of the tournament. The Tribe finished the event in 10th place with an 886 (+22). USC Aiken won the tournament with an 857 (-7) team score.
 
Freshman Jimmy Taylor led the Tribe in the event as he recorded a 220 (+4) over the 54-hole event. The rookie had his best round of the tournament today as he shot a 70 (-2).
 
Three – senior Ben Morris and juniors Trevor Hecht and Otto Voettiner - Tribe players finished the event at 222 (+6) and in 34th place. Hecht had the best round of the day for the team as he carded a 69 (-3). Morris and Voettiner each shot 75's (+3) in the final round.

Junior Trevor Hecht tied his career-low round with a 69 (-3) in the final round … The score was the first time this season that Hecht has been at, or below, par … Classmate Otto Voettiner tied for the tournament lead with 40 pars … Senior Ben Morris tied for the tournament lead in par 5 scoring at eight-under … Freshman Jimmy Taylor tied his career-low round with a 70 (-2) in the event … It was the fourth time this season, he's been at, or below, par.

What's Ahead
Following a week off, the William & Mary men's golf team heads to the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Monday, Oct. 14 and Tuesday, Oct. 15. The Members Club at Four Streams is the host course for the event and is located in Beallsville, Md.
