WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Fresh off its highest-ranked win in six years, the No. 47-ranked William & Mary women's tennis team hosts a Colonial Athletic Association doubleheader on Saturday, April 7, at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The Tribe welcomes James Madison to Williamsburg at 11 a.m., before playing host to Towson at 4 p.m.

Natalia Perry clinched the Tribe victory with a win over Chandler Carter, who was riding at five-match win streak with a win over a top-20 opponent, at No. 3. It marked the third 4-3 victory that Perry clinched this season, including her second against the ACC. Thaler and Tanielian lead the Tribe with 21 singles wins, while Perry tallied her 20th on Monday. The Tribe remained in the national top 50 for the fifth time in the last six weeks on Tuesday, coming in at No. 47. Along with the win over No. 19 Wake Forest, the Tribe downed No. 36 Princeton, 5-2, in Houston on March 24. All eight W&M losses this season have come to teams currently in the national top 50, including setbacks to No. 1 North Carolina, No. 11 Illinois, No. 16 Kansas, No. 20 Virginia, No. 26 Oregon, No. 31 Tennessee, No. 35 Kansas State, and No. 44 Rice.
Scouting James Madison
The Dukes pushed their win streak to six matches with a 4-0 win over Radford on Tuesday to improve to 17-1. JMU's lone loss on the year came at North Florida, 5-2, on March 9. James Madison is 3-0 in CAA play with victories over UNCW, Delaware and Towson. As a team, the Dukes are an impressive 85-18 in singles and 39-10 in doubles during dual-match competition. In doubles, they are a remarkable 28-4 at No. 2 and No. 3 spots, winning the doubles point in 15 of 18 matches. Elizabeth Norman is a perfect 16-0 in dual-match play between the No. 1 and No. 2 positions and is a sterling 24-2 overall. Anna Makarova and Jona Roka have played in the top three of the JMU lineup all season, posting 19-6 overall records. Markarova is 12-3 between lines two and three, while Roka is 13-4 at the top three spots. Norman and Abby Amos have played the last two matches at the No. 1 doubles post going 2-0 and are 9-3 overall on the year. Makarova and Emma Peterson are 10-2 at No. 2 doubles, while Roka and Dylan Owens are 11-1 in dual-match play.
Series History: W&M vs. James Madison
W&M has dominated the all-time series with James Madison at 43-1, including a 23-1 mark in Williamsburg. The Tribe is currently riding a 31-match win streak against the Dukes dating back to the 1984 season. The Green and Gold has eliminated the JMU from the CAA Tournament each of the last three seasons. W&M downed the Dukes twice in 2017, including a 6-1 win during the regular season and a 4-1 victory in the CAA Semifinals.
Scouting Towson
The Tigers are 7-7 on the year after hosting Johns Hopkins on Thursday. Towson, which has won four of its last five matches, hosts UMES and Coppin State in a doubleheader on Friday, before heading to Williamsburg. The Tigers are 1-2 in CAA play thanks a 6-1 victory over Hofstra on March 21. TU's league losses came to JMU, 6-1, on March 2 and Drexel, 5-2 on March 30.
Series History: W&M vs. Towson
The Tribe is 3-0 all-time against the Tigers with all three wins coming in the CAA Championship. The last meeting between the teams came in the 2007 CAA Quarterfinals, and W&M posted a 4-0 victory. Saturday will be Towson's second trip to Williamsburg and the first match-up between the teams during the regular season.
