HANOVER, N.H. – The William & Mary women's tennis team once again used its singles might, this time, topping ACC counterpart Boston College, 4-3, on Saturday afternoon at Dartmouth. After dropping the doubles point, W&M won four of the first five singles matches off the court, including sophomore
Natalia Perry's three-set clincher at the No. 4 spot, to even its season ledger at 3-3.
Senior
Olivia Thaler and junior
Lauren Goodman quickly flipped the deficit after doubles into a lead with singles victories at the bottom of the lineup. Thaler, who clinched W&M's 4-2 win over Winthrop last week with a three-set win, made quick work of BC's Maria Ross, 6-3, 6-2, to pull the Tribe even. Goodman followed an equally impressive win, her third straight, over Dasha Possokhova, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 5, giving the Green and Gold a 2-1 advantage.
After an Eagle (3-2) win at No. 3, junior
Clara Tanielian gave W&M the lead for good with a straight-sets win at the second post. She notched her team-leading 13th singles win of the year, upending Kylie Wilcox, 6-4, 7-5.
The match came down to three-set tilts at No. 1 and No. 4. Perry stepped to the front to cement the Tribe victory. After splitting the opening two sets, 6-3, 1-6, with the Eagles' Jackie Urbinati, the Tribe sophomore outlasted her junior opponent, 6-4, in the decisive third set.
