- Tonight's game is the celebration of 100 years of women's basketball on W&M's campus. Although the first intercollegiate basketball game between W&M and Richmond took place in 1920, documentation from Martha Barksdale's diary confirms that some form of intramural/rec women's basketball took place on campus during the 1918-19 academic year.

- The game is the third of four – VCU, ECU, Richmond, and Old Dominion – games against former Colonial Athletic Association rivals this season. So far the Tribe is 1-1 against former league mates.

- Also the match-up is also the beginning of a stretch of three straight games against opponents from the Commonwealth. W&M plays in-state rivals VCU, Richmond, Old Dominion, and Norfolk State this year. The Tribe is currently 0-1 against its in-state rivals.

- Freshman Eva Hodgson was named the CAA Rookie of the Week for the week of Dec. 3. The Rindge, N.H native helped the Tribe to a 2-1 week as she averaged 10.0 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.7 steals a game.

- W&M has been clamping down on the defensive end of the floor of late as it has held two of its last three opponents to 50 points or less. In Swanson's tenure the Tribe has posted a 19-2 record in games when its opponents have scored 50 points, or less. In that, W&M has lowered its points against to 59.9, which ranks fourth in the CAA and 106th nationally.

- Senior Bianca Boggs was announced as one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award. The Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. Boggs was the lone player from CAA women's basketball honored, and along with men's basketball player Paul Rowely, W&M was one of three DI schools with a candidate for the both the men's and women's Senior CLASS Award.

- After scoring double-figures in five of the last six games, junior Victoria Reynolds is now the second Tribe player to be averaging double-figures this season. Reynolds is averaging 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds, while handing out 2.6 assists a night. The Fairfax, Va. native has started the last 37 contests for the Tribe and is also averaging 10.3 points per game during that stretch.

- Boggs has been in double-figures in six of seven games this season, and has accomplished that feat in 31 of her last 37 contests. Boggs was selected to the Preseason All-CAA First-Team after a breakout junior season. The senior captain leads the team with 15.7 points per night 7.8 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per night. Boggs is the only player in the CAA that ranks in the top six in the league in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.

- Hodgson has started every game this season and the early returns on the rookie point guard have been good. The freshman has been in double-figures in two of the last three games, and is averaging 7.- points per game, with 2.6 rebounds, and 2.9 helpers per contes. Hodgson scored a season-high 14 points at Hartford.

- After being named to the all-rookie team as freshman, sophomore Nyla Pollard has expanded her role this year. After coming off of the bench in the first four games, the sophomore has started the last two games. She is averaging 5.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 0.7 steals, and 2.0 assists per game.

-  Redshirt sophomore Harper Birdsong is making the most of her first year with the Tribe after transferring in from George Washington and having to sit out last season due to NCAA rules. Birdsong has started four games, and after not scoring in the opener against VCU has scored 49 points in the last five games. She has been in double-figures in three of the last five games for the Tribe as well.
