W&M News and Notes
- Tuesday will be the Tribe's final of four games in the 2018 Gotham Classic, which is in its sixth season. The Tribe competes in a multi-team exempt (MTE) event for the first time since the 2011-12 season. W&M's last exempt event was the 2011 2K Sports Classic, when the Tribe traveled to St. John's and played Lehigh, Eastern Kentucky and Liberty in Lynchburg, Va.

- The Tribe is 23-16 all-time against the Big South, including a 17-9 mark under head coach Tony Shaver. W&M is 10-3 against Big South teams over the last six years. The Tribe downed High Point, 79-69, earlier this season and travels to Big South newcomer Hampton on Dec. 8.

- W&M is the only team in the CAA with three players ranked among the top 15 in scoring. Junior Justin Pierce is second in the league and 33rd nationally at 22.3 points per game, while classmates Matt Milon (16.0) and Nathan Knight (15.8) come in at ninth and 11th in the league, respectively.

- The Tribe owns a 24-game home court non-conference winning streak, dating back to 2013. It is the second-longest streak in school history behind only the 31-game stretch from 1946 through 1952. It is the seventh-longest active streak in the country. The Tribe's home record over the last six seasons is 59-13 (.819).

- Despite missing the Tribe's last contest at Notre Dame, Pierce has been dominant to start the 2018-19 season. He posted his second double-double in the first three games with a near triple-double performance at UIC of 25 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high seven assists. He is the only player in the CAA to average a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double and ranks 14th nationally in rebounds (11.3) and 33rd in scoring.

- Freshmen L.J. Owens and Quinn Blair earned their first collegiate starts last week during the Tribe's trip to the Midwest. Owens started both contests, playing 33 minutes in each and averaging 11.5 points per game. Blair stepped into the starting lineup in place of Pierce and tallied seven points and two rebounds at ACC foe Notre Dame. In two games last week, Blair averaged five points and 4.5 rebounds per game in 18 minutes of action.

- In two of the Tribe's three games of the Gotham Classic, Knight has topped the Green and Gold in scoring, rebounding and assists. He totaled a 26-point, 11-rebound double-double and added four assists at Duquesne, before amassing an 18-point, seven-rebound and six-assist stat line at Notre Dame. He ranks among the CAA's top 12 in six different categories, including third in blocks shots (1.3), sixth in field goal shooting (.561) eighth in rebounding (6.5) and 12th in assists (3.7). Knight has led W&M in assists in three of its four games.

- Milon, who scored a career-high 30 points at UIC on Nov. 15, is one of only two players in the CAA to rank among the top 15 in all three shooting categories. He is 10th in field goal percentage (.500), 14th in 3-point shooting (.438) and 15th in free throw percentage (.800).

- Milon knocked down eight 3-pointers in the posting his career-high point total against the Flames. His eight triples were the most in the CAA this season, sixth nationally (as of Nov. 19) and third in W&M history. He ranks second in the CAA and 45th nationally in 3-pointers made per game (3.5).

- W&M is averaging 10.3 3-pointers per game, which ranks second in the CAA and 43rd nationally. The Tribe knocked down a season-high 15 3-pointers at UIC. In total, 16 of the Tribe's 18 all-time games of 15 or more 3-pointers have come under head coach Tony Shaver. W&M is 86-49 in 135 games with double-digit 3-pointers in Shaver's 16 seasons. W&M has averaged 9.1 3-pointers made per game over the last six years and led the CAA on three occasions during the stretch.

- Owens became the first Tribe player since 2015 to the named CAA Rookie of the Week on Nov. 12. His scoring average of 11.3 points per game is tops among league rookies and ranks 19th overall in the CAA. He is also fourth in the league in free throw percentage (.909) and ninth in 3-point shooting (.467).

- W&M was picked fourth in the preseason CAA poll released in October by vote of the league's coaches, SIDs and media. Northeastern was the preseason CAA favorite followed by Charleston and Hofstra. The Tribe has finished inside the top four in the league each of the last five seasons, producing double-digit CAA wins.

- After earning All-CAA honors last season, Knight and Pierce were voted among the top 10 players in the league as Preseason All-CAA Second Team picks in October. It marks the sixth-straight year that W&M had two Preseason All-CAA picks. Knight and Pierce concluded 2018 on the CAA's second and third teams, respectively.

- Knight was named one of 21 players nationally to the Watch List for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award presented by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The 6-10 center was selected to the NBC Sports Preseason Mid-Major All-America Second Team in September.

- Second-year Law student Paul Rowley and Milon both rank among the active NCAA Division I leaders in career 3-point percentage. Rowley is eighth on the list at 45.1 percent (88-of-195) from long range, while Milon comes in 10th at 44.7 percent (130-of-291).
