- The William & Mary women's basketball team looks to get back into the win column as it closes a two-game road swing at Northeastern on Sunday, Jan. 21. Tipoff between the Tribe and the Huskies is set for 2 p.m.
Â
- W&M has shot, at least, 45-percent in eight of its 17 games. Furthermore, W&M has shot 50-percent, or better, in three games. The Tribe is 7-1 when shooting better than 45-percent. For the season, the Green and Gold leads the CAA and ranks 27th in the country at 45.7-percent.
Â
- The Tribe has scored 70, or more points, in 11 of its 17 games this season and is averaging 72.4 points per game. The Tribe has only averaged more than 70 points in a season twice in program history, and the 72.4 would be a school record if the season ended today. W&M's scoring offense is second in the CAA and 66th in the country.
Â
- After losing its top two scorers from last season, W&M has put, at least, three players in double-figures in 15 of 17 games this season. Junior
Bianca Boggs has been in double-figures in 15 of 17 games, including eight in a row to lead the team. Seniors
Abby Rendle (14 times) and
Jenna Green (12 times), as well as sophomores
Victoria Reynolds (eight times) and
Nari Garner (four times), and freshman
Nyla Pollard (twice) have also scored in double-figures, in at least one game, this season.
Â
- Not only is senior
Jenna Green scoring at a higher rate this season, but she is also finding her teammates at a higher clip. The Clifton, Virginia native has been in double-figures in 12 games and is averaging 11.4 points per game. She has added 115 assists, which is good for 18th in the country, while her 6.8 apg. rank her 10th. Green, who is just 35 assists away from breaking the school record, has 469 that rank her 15th among active players in the country.
Â
- W&M's and the CAA's new all-time blocks leader senior
Abby Rendle broke the school record with her 256th career block in the game against Davidson, and then topped the league's record with her 274th career block versus ODU. Rendle is the nation's top shot blocker and is leading the country with 84 blocks and 4.9 bpg. Her 306 career blocks are also the third-most active blocks in the country, and her 3.2 blocks per game are the most active in the country.
Â
- Junior
Bianca Boggs has become one of the top players in the CAA this season. She has been the team's leading scorer seven times, and recorded the most points in a game by a CAA player this season when she scored a career-high 33 points at St. Francis (Pa.) on Dec. 2. For the year, she is averaging a team-high 16.3 points per game, which is third in the CAA, to go along with 4.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists, and 2.1 steals.
Â
- For the past four seasons, W&M has led the CAA in steals each year. This season, W&M has 172 thefts, which is fourth in the CAA and ranks 70th nationally. The Tribe's 10.1 spg. are third in the CAA and 56th in the NCAA.
- A telling sign in Tribe victories this season has been how it shares the basketball. In its 12 wins, W&M has averaged 18.3 assists per contest, but in its five losses, the Green and Gold is only averaging 15.6 helpers.
Â
- W&M has focused on trying to get to the free throw line more this season. While the team is well on its way to accomplishing that goal, it is more likely to win when it gets to the line. The Tribe gets to the line three more times a game when it wins compared to its losses, and is 8-2 when it gets to line more then its opponents.
