W&M News and Notes
- W&M is off to a 12-4 start to the season, marking the seventh time in program history and third under head coach
Tony Shaver has enjoyed a start of 12-4 or better. Under Shaver, the Tribe opened 2015-16 at 12-4 and 14-3 during the 2009-10 campaign.
- The Tribe's 5-0 league start is the program's best in CAA play. It marks the sixth time that W&M started a conference slate 5-0 or better and the first since going 9-0 and winning the regular season crown in the ECAC South in 1982-83.
- W&M has won 20 of its last 21 games inside Kaplan Arena, including a perfect 7-0 mark in 2017-18. Over the last four seasons, the Tribe is 44-7 (.863) at home.
- In its win over James Madison on Thursday, the Green and Gold rallied from a 20-point first-half deficit to pull out the overtime win. In fact, the Tribe trailed by 18 with 12:15 to play and nine with just 50 seconds remaining. It marks the fourth time this season and third time in the last four games that W&M rallied from a double-digit deficit. Under head coach
Tony Shaver, the Tribe has rallied from a double-digit hole on 26 occasions. The 20-point rally on Thursday night was the second largest behind only the 22-point comeback against UNCW in 2015.
- Sophomore
Nathan Knight was recently named to the Lou Henson Award Mid-Season Watch list, which annually recognizes the nation's top Division I mid-major player. He ranks second in the CAA at 19.9 points per game to go along with 8.3 rebounds. Knight, who ranks 29th nationally with seven double-doubles, has been even better in CAA play averaging a double-double at 22.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. He owns four double-doubles in five CAA games and three 30-point, 10-rebound double-doubles on the year.
- Senior
David Cohn has been on a scoring tear in CAA action, producing 20 or more points in three of the Tribe's five league games. He twice set a career-high with 26 points in victories over Hofstra and at Drexel. Cohn, who is averaging 13.6 points per game overall, is up to a 20.6 scoring average in CAA play, which ranks fourth in the league.
- Sophomore
Justin Pierce pulled down 17 rebounds, including 16 in the second half and OT, in the win over JMU, marking the fourth most for a Tribe player since 1973. It is Pierce's second game of 17 rebounds this season, making him one of just two W&M players, along with David Cully in 1996, to have multiple 17-rebound games in a season since 1973. Pierce averages 9.3 rebounds per game, which ranks third in the CAA and 39th nationally.
- The Tribe is the best shooting team in the country, ranking among the top 10 at all three levels. W&M leads the country in 3-point (45.2) percentage, while ranking second in free throw shooting (81.8) and ninth in field goal percentage (51.2). W&M is the only team in the country to rank among the top 20 in all three shooting categories.

Nathan Knight garnered his second CAA Player of the Week honor on Monday after averaging 20 points and 12 rebounds per game in three Tribe road wins last week. He is one of only two CAA players to garner multiple player of the week honors this season. Coupled with seniors

David Cohn (Nov. 27) earning the honor, W&M leads the CAA with four player of the week awards in 2017-18.
