Three First-Half Goals Send Men's Soccer to Exhibition Win

Box Score
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's soccer team scored three goals over an eight-minute stretch in the first half to outdistance Navy, 3-1, in its lone exhibition match on Saturday night at Martin Family Stadium. Senior William Eskay and junior Antonio Bustamante factored in all three Tribe goals with Eskay scoring the first two and Bustamante adding the other to go along with two assists.

Both Eskay goals came in less than three minutes, including the initial marker of the match at the 10:27 mark. Bustamante started the play, leading junior Ryder Bell to the right endline. The cross found Eskay at the penalty spot, and he finished into the left side of the frame.

Just 2:40 later, Eskay used his speed to make it 2-0 in favor of the home side. Bustamante made a leading pass into the area to a rushing Eskay, and the senior slotted it home past the diving Navy goalkeeper Mac Burke.

Bustamante found a goal of his own in the 19th minute. Sophomore Julian Ngoh and Eskay set up the tally on a combo play along the right endline. Bustamante collected the cross at the back of the 18-yard box and finished inside the near post to increase the lead to 3-0. Navy added its goal in the 76th minute on a header from Nicko West to provide the final margin.

Notes
W&M is unbeaten in its last six exhibition games dating back to the 2014 season … The Tribe had tied its previous four exhibition games, including two in both 2015 and 2016 against Old Dominion and George Mason … Eskay finished with two goals and an assist on the evening, while Bustamate added a goal and two assists … The assist for Ngoh would have been the first of his career had it been a regular season match … Senior goalkeeper Phil Breno started and made one save without allowing a goal in 72 minutes … Breno's lone save denied a point-blank attempt from Navy's Ben Nicholas in the 32nd minute after the ball fell to the Navy attacker off a deflection … Redshirt freshman Daniel McBride made his first appearance for the Tribe in the exhibition and finished with a save, while also allowing the lone Midshipmen goal in just over 18 minutes of action.
