WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — William & Mary men's soccer freshman Brown Huffard added two national honors to his impressive debut season Tuesday, earning a spot on the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week and being named the College Soccer News Freshman of the Week.
Huffard was also selected to the College Soccer News Men's College Soccer Week 9 Team of the Week, marking his second national team recognition of the day.
The national accolades follow Huffard's selection as the CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, marking his fourth weekly conference honor of the season. The McLean, Va., native previously earned three consecutive CAA Rookie of the Week awards to open the year.
Huffard has emerged as one of the Tribe's top offensive threats, leading the Green and Gold with seven goals and 15 points through 14 games. His seven goals are tied for second in the CAA, while his 15 points are tied for fourth in the conference.
The freshman earned his latest recognition after scoring three goals in two games last week, helping William & Mary extend its unbeaten streak to three games.
Against Navy on Tuesday, Huffard registered his first collegiate brace, finding the back of the net twice in a 4-0 victory. He followed that performance with the game-tying goal in the 34th minute at Charleston on Saturday, helping the Tribe earn a 1-1 draw in CAA action.
Huffard has scored in each of his last three games, totaling four goals during that stretch. His recent performances have helped W&M improve to 7-5-2 overall and 2-2-2 in conference play.
The Tribe return to CAA action Saturday, Oct. 24, traveling to Campbell for a 6 p.m. game in Buies Creek, N.C.
William & Mary then visit North Carolina on Tuesday, Oct. 27, before returning home to face UNCW in the regular-season finale Saturday, Oct. 31. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field.
