Scouting the Tribe
The Tribe is the No. 3 seed in the CAA Championship for the ninth time since 1997 and the third time in the last four seasons. In fact, the Tribe's last CAA title in 2015 came as the No. 3 seed. The Green and Gold was also the No. 3 seed in the league tournament in 1997, 1998, 2000, 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2014. W&M sits at 9-11 on the season after dropping its last three matches by close 4-3 score lines. The Tribe fell to Middle Tennessee, VCU and Old Dominion all by the narrowest of margins. Junior
Christian Cargill, who has won six straight entering the CAA Championship, won his second CAA Player of the Week award on Tuesday. He posted a pair of come-from-behind three-set wins at No. 2 singles against VCU and Old Dominion. Cargill is 14-14 on the year, including an impressive 12-5 at No. 2. Along with Cargill, junior
Lars de Boer, who has won four of his last five matches, and senior
Damon Niquet posted singles wins in the match with Old Dominion. Niquet leads the Tribe with a 16-10 singles mark, including a team-best 13-4 record in dual-match play. Senior
Aidan Talcott, like Cargill, has won two CAA Player of the Week honors this season. He was ranked as high as No. 72 nationally this years and enters the league championship at 14-10 overall with a 10-7 mark at No. 1.

Post-Seasoned Head Coach
W&M head coach
Jeff Kader, who is in the second season at the helm of his alma mater after five years as the top man at UTSA, is no stranger to postseason success both with the Tribe and in the coaching ranks. As a senior in 2005, he led W&M to upset wins over No. 62 Old Dominion and No. 38 VCU in the CAA Semifinals and Championship, respectively. It marked the Tribe's first CAA title since 1990. Kader went a perfect 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 3-0 in doubles on his way to being named the most outstanding performer of the championship. He upset the No. 20-ranked player in the country from VCU and the No. 33-ranked player from ODU during the championship run. As a head coach, Kader led UTSA to conference championships in 2012 and 2015. The Roadrunners won the Southland Conference title in 2012, and in its first season as a member of Conference USA in 2015, took home the league championship behind upset wins over No. 58 Old Dominion and No. 54 Rice in the semifinals and championship, respectively.
