Scouting the Tribe
The Tribe suffered its second-straight 4-3 setback, dropping to a close match to instate foe VCU on Wednesday. Senior

Christian Cargill continued their strong play at the top two singles posts. Talcott picked up his fourth victory in a row to improve to 10-6 at the top singles position and 14-9 overall. Alec Miller won for the third time in his last four matches against VCU to record his 11th victory of the season. The Rams countered by winning the doubles point and posting singles victories at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6. The Green and Gold sit at 9-10 on the year with three of its 10 losses coming by narrow 4-3 margins. W&M opened its regular-season ending six-match homestand with three-straight wins over Xavier, Howard and East Carolina, before its latest two setbacks to Middle Tennessee and VCU. Senior

Scouting Old Dominion
Old Dominion is 15-5 on the year and is ranked No. 49 nationally entering the week. The Monarchs face another CAA opponent on the road in UNCW on Friday, before making the short trek to Williamsburg. The Monarchs went 6-2 on its most recent eight-match homestand, including a 4-3 triumph over Charleston on Sunday. Earlier this season ODU was ranked as high as No. 25 nationally on Feb. 28. Adam Moundir headlines the Monarch lineup at No. 44 nationally. He is 12-4 at the top singles post and 19-8 overall, including advancing to the semifinals of the 2016 Oracle ITA Masters during the fall. In doubles, Moundir and Jacob Nicolussi are ranked No. 62 and own a mark of 8-4 at No. 1. Javier Jover Maestre leads ODU with 22 singles wins and is an impressive 15-1 in duals, including 10-straight wins. Michael Weindl plays at the No. 2 singles position and is 10-5 at the spot to go along with a 19-10 overall ledger. In the win over Charleston, ODU took the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3, before receiving singles triumphs from Nicolussi (No. 3), Jover Maestre (No. 4) and Justin Herrera (No. 5).
Series History: W&M vs. Old Dominion
W&M and Old Dominion have met 56 times since the 1977 season, making it the Tribe's most-played rivalry over that stretch. ODU leads the series 32-24, including a 14-10 mark in Williamsburg. The 24 wins are the third most for the Green and Gold against an opponent since 1977. Six of the last nine meetings between the two schools have been decided by narrow 4-3 margins, including four of the last five. In the last meeting in Williamsburg, the Monarchs edged the Tribe, 4-3, during the 2015 campaign.

The Tribe returns to action when it takes part in the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Championship, April 21-23. The event will be held at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C., for the second-straight year. W&M has won four CAA Championships, including in 2015. The seeding for the CAA Championship will be released from the conference office early next week. The Tribe opens play in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 21. The quarterfinals are slated for both 9 a.m., and 1 p.m., depending on seed. The CAA Semifinals are set for Saturday, April 22, at 10 a.m., with the championship match on Sunday, April 23, at 10 a.m.
