WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William & Mary men's tennis team continues its Spring Break road swing, traveling to the East Coast to face two Ivy League opponents this weekend. After competing in the prestigious Pacific Coast Doubles Championship last week, the Tribe travels to Princeton on Saturday, March 11, before making the trek to Penn on Sunday, March 12. The match with the Tigers carries a 3 p.m. start with the Quaker tilt beginning at 11 a.m.
Scouting the Tribe
The Tribe is 6-6 on the year and has won three of its last five matches. The Green and Gold competed on the West Coast last weekend, taking part in the 128th Pacific Coast Doubles Championship. Senior
Damon Niquet and junior
Christian Cargill led the way, winning their opening two matches in the main draw at the prestigious event to advance to the round of 32. Senior
Aidan Talcott and junior
Ryan Newman picked up four wins in the consolation bracket, including a pair over seeded teams, to earn a spot in the consolation semifinals. Also as part of the West Coast swing, the Tribe's dual-match against UC Davis was canceled after three rain delays on March 5. The Aggies led 3-2, and the final two matches at No. 1 and No. 6 were both in third sets. Seniors
Addison Appleby and Niquet posted singles wins against UC Davis at the No. 3 and No. 5 posts, respectively. Niquet leads the Tribe with a 12-8 overall singles record and a 9-2 dual-match ledger. He has won six in a row entering the weekend. Talcott, who was named the CAA Player of the Week for the second time this season on Feb. 22, owns 10 singles wins, including a 6-5 mark at the top post.

Scouting Princeton
Princeton is on a four-match winning streak and sports an overall record of 8-6. The Tigers are 7-2 at home this season. Recently, Princeton closed out the Blue Gray Classic with a 4-1 win over Boise State and swept a trio of matches over Denver (5-2), Buffalo (6-1) and Bryant (6-1) last weekend at home. Both Alexander Day and Thomas Colautti have spent time at the No. 1 singles position for the Tigers. Day owns a 3-8 mark at No. 1 and 12 wins overall, while Colautti has a 7-3 dual-match record, including a 2-0 ledger at No. 1. Payton Holden leads the Tigers with an 18-8 overall singles record, including a 6-3 dual-match mark at the bottom of the line-up. Kial Kaiser is a team-best 8-2 in dual-match play and is 13-4 overall. Princeton's top doubles team of Day and Luke Gamble are ranked No. 23 nationally and sport a 14-10 record. The pair is 8-5 at No. 1.

Series History: W&M vs. Princeton
The Tribe-Tigers series is even at two apiece following a 6-1 Princeton win in 2015. In fact, the Tigers have won the last two meetings. Sunday will be the Tribe's second-straight trip to Princeton and third overall. The Tribe won the first meeting at Princeton, knocking off the then-No. 67-ranked Tigers, 4-3, in 1999.

Scouting Penn
Penn has won five of their last six matches and sits at 9-5 overall on the year, following a 6-1 win over UL-Lafayette on Wednesday. The Quakers continue their Louisiana road trip with a Thursday doubleheader against Loyola (Louisiana) and New Orleans. They close out the trip squaring off with Tulane on Friday. Penn's lone loss during its recent stretch was a 4-3 setback to No. 26 Old Dominion. W&M and Penn have two common opponents in Navy and St. John's. Both team knocked off the Midshipmen, but the Tribe suffered a 5-2 loss to St. John's, while the Quakers tallied a 4-1 victory. Kyle Mautner is the top Penn player and was ranked No. 106 nationally in the ITA standings earlier this season. He is 10-3 at No. 1 singles and 16-10 overall. Josh Pompan has had a significant impact at the top of the Penn lineup. He is 10-2 in duals playing primarily at No. 2 and sports a 24-6 overall mark. In doubles, the Quakers have enjoyed the most success at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, going 8-3 and 10-4, respectively, at those spots in dual-match play.
