Women's Basketball Hosts UNCW for Senior Day on Friday

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William & Mary women's basketball team opens a split weekend as they host UNCW on Friday, Feb. 27. The game, which serves as W&M's senior night is set for 7 p.m.

The first 100 Tribe students will receive a free T-Shirt with a valid student ID. Also at half time the winner of the student game of knockout will receive an autograph basketball from the Tribe women's basketball players and staff.

The William & Mary women's basketball team looks to get back into the win column as it hosts UNCW for Senior Night on Friday, Feb. 24. W&M again plays a split weekend as they travel to James Madison for a television game on Sunday, Feb. 26. The Green and Gold and UNCW meet for the 68th time in series history tonight.
 
Last Time Out
The William & Mary women's basketball team couldn't overcome a cold shooting day as they fell 70-47 at first-place Elon on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Bianca Boggs was the lone Tribe player in double-figures scoring 13 points and adding five rebounds, an assist, a block, and three steals. Senior Latrice Hunter added seven points, while classmate Kasey Curtis added a season-high six points. Sophomore Ali Engelhardt chipped in with a season-high five points and four rebounds.
 
Scouting the Seahawks
UNCW will look to stop a three-game losing skid as they head to Williamsburg. The Seahawks own a 9-17, 5-9 CAA record entering the weekend. This season, UNCW is averaging 55.6 points per game, while allowing teams 65.0 points per game. Madison Raque is the lone player in double-figures averaging 11.1 points per game. Jasmine Steele is just off of the pace with 9.2 points a game. The Seahawks grab 36.8 points per game this year. Rebekah Banks leads the squad with 7.7 rebounds a night.  Jordan Henry is just a hair off the team lead with 7.6 boards per game. Adell Harris is in her fifth season at the helm of UNCW. She owns a 40-109 record in her time in the Port City, while she is 101-138 in eight season as a collegiate head coach.
 
Series History
The Green and Gold and UNCW meet for the 68th time in series history tonight. W&M holds a 35-33 advantage in the series, including winning three of the last four games in the series. Earlier this season, W&M pick up a 57-43 at Trask Coliseum on Jan. 15. Sophomore Bianca Boggs led four Tribe players in double-figures in the game with 13 points. She added three rebounds, tow assists, two blocks, and four steals. Seniors Alexandra Masaquel added 12 points and four steals, while classmate Marlena Tremba had 11 points and four rebounds. Freshman Victoria Reynolds rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points and three rebounds.
 
The Road Ahead
W&M closes out the road portion of its regular season schedule as it travels to James Madison on Sunday, Feb. 26. The game, which will be televised on the American Sports Network, is set for 5 p.m. The Green and Gold will return home to for its regular season finale against Drexel. Tipoff between the Tribe and Dragons is set for 7 p.m.
 
Senior Salute
Prior to tonight's game head coach Ed Swanson and his staff will honor its five seniors for their countless hours of dedication to the Tribe. Student manager Savannah Triplett and student-athletes Kasey Curtis, Latrice Hunter, Alexandra Masaquel, and Marlena Tremba will all be honored. The class has helped build a foundation of success under Coach Swanson. They led the Tribe to its first-ever Division I Postseason bid in 2014-15 and this year has already secured the first winning season for the Tribe in 10 years.
