• The William & Mary women's basketball team looks to improve to 3-0 for the first time since 1987-88 season as it opens a two game road swing at St. John's on Friday night.
• The Green and Gold was selected to finish third in the preseason poll by a vote of league's 10 head coaches. W&M was only selected finish behind only James Madison and defending league champion Elon.
• Seniors
Abby Rendle and
Jenna Green each had double-doubles in the victory against Fairfield on Tuesday night, and each were close to triple double-doubles. Green had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists, while Rendle had 10 points, 13 boards, and seven blocks. It was the first time since Dec. 20, 2016 that a pair of Tribe players recorded a double-double in the same game.
• Junior
Bianca Boggs has had a strong start to the season. She has been the team's leading scorer in both contests, including setting a career high with 26 points and 11 rebounds against Howard. The Waldorf, Md. native has also added two
blocks and six steals.
• Sophomore
Victoria Reynolds has made the most of her first two career starts this season. She is second on the team averaging 14.0 points, and 6.5 rebounds per contest. Reynolds set a career-high with 19 points in the season opening win at Howard, while she also leads the team with seven steals.
• For the past four seasons, W&M has led the league in steals each year. So far this season, the Tirbe is doing much of the same. Through two games, W&M has had 23 thefts, which is tied for first in the CAA at 11.5 steals per game
• Senior
Abby Rendle was named to the Preseason All-CAA Second-Team announced on the league's digital media day. The team's returning leading scorer, She finished last season with 287 points (9.3 ppg.) and 157 rebounds (5.1 rpg.), 32 assists, and 26 steals, and shot 49.8-perecnt (124-for-249) from the floor. One of the best shot blockers in the country she finished last year with a school records in both blocked shots (101) and blocked shots per game (3.3). Both numbers ranked sixth in the nation.
• For the first time this season, W&M won the rebounding battle against Fairfield. The last 19 times the Tribe has won or tied the battle of the boards it has posted a 16-3 record.
• Head coach
Ed Swanson announced that senior
Jenna Green and junior
Misha Jones will be his team captains for the 2017-18 season. Green has played the most active games (92), while Jones returns to the fold after missing all of last season with an injury.
• All four freshmen –
Bailey Eichner,
Nyla Pollard,
Gabby Rogers, and
Libby Underwood – made their collegiate debuts and scored their first career points against Howard. Pollard earned her first career start with six points, while Rogers added nine points and four boards off of the bench.

Ed Swanson signed a five-year contract extension. Swanson has won 58 games in his first-four years with the Green and Gold, including a program record 20 wins last season. Â
