WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's basketball team looks to make it 12 in a row as they travel to College of Charleston for its second conference game of the season on Friday, Jan. 6. Tip time between the Tribe and the Cougars is set for 6:30 p.m.

The William & Mary women's basketball team concludes its Colonial Athletic Association opening road trip as they put its 11-game winning streak on the line traveling to Charleston on Friday, Jan. 8. The matchup closes a two-game road swing to open 2017. The Green and Gold and Charleston meet for the 17th time in series history on Friday night.
Last Time Out
A strong defensive effort and a balanced scoring attack lifted the William & Mary women's basketball team to its 11th straight victory as they topped Delaware 60-49 in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams on Monday afternoon in Newark, Delaware. With the victory, the Tribe improves to 11-1, 1-0 in CAA play, while the Blue Hens drop to 6-6, 0-1 in league action. Junior
Abby Rendle just missed another double-double as she finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, and added four blocks. Senior
Alexandra Masaquel added 13 more with five boards and an assist, while sophomore
Bianca Boggs rounded out the double-figure scorers with 10 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals. After giving up 23 points in the first quarter, the Tribe allowed just 26 points the rest of the way, including allowing just 12 points in the second and third periods combined. It was the sixth time in the 11-game winning streak that the Tribe has limited an opponent to 50 points, or less.
Scouting the Cougars
College of Charleston plays its first CAA home game as they welcome William & Mary to TD Arena on Friday night. The Cougars are looking for their first conference victory and enter the game with a 3-9 mark, 0-1 in league action. CofC comes into Friday's contest averaging 64.1 points per game. Three players are averaging double-figures led by Bre Bolden, who is averaging 17.2 points per night. Tanisha Brown (12.5) and Brianna Boyd (10.0) are also in double-figures this season. On the glass, the Cougars average 40.3 rebounds per contest. Individually, Brown leads the way averaging 7.8 rebounds. Boyd is just off of her pace at 7.6 rebounds a game. Candice M. Jackson is in her third season at Charleston. She has posted a 19-54 mark during her time at CofC.
Series History
The Green and Gold and Charleston meet for the 17th time in series history on Friday night. It is the first of two regular season matchups as the two teams will square off in Williamsburg on Friday, Feb. 17. The Tribe leads the all-time series 11-5, but the two teams split the series last season, with each team winning on the other's home floor. Marlena Tremba, who averaged 17.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in the two games. Senior

The Road Ahead
W&M returns home for the first time in 2017 and CAA play as they welcome Hofstra to Kaplan Arena on Sunday, Jan. 8. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. The Tribe will also host Northeastern on Friday, Jan. 13 as part of the two-game homestand. That game is set for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

For just the second-time in program history, the William & Mary women's basketball team appeared in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 at No. 25. The Green and Gold had been receiving votes in the poll since the week of since Dec. 6.

Junior
Jeanne Gaumont has provided coach Swanson with a hustle player off the bench this season. Gaumont added seven points for the Tribe in the win at Delaware on Monday afternoon. It was the second-time this season she has scored seven points (vs. Richmond) and also has a season-high eight against Norfolk State. For the year, she is averaging 3.2 points, and 1.8 rebounds, while adding 13 assists, two blocks, and five steals. She is also the team's leader in drawn charges with three.
