WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary men's tennis team won its third straight and opened the home portion of its schedule with a 6-1 triumph over Navy on Sunday afternoon at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. W&M (3-1), which won its 10th straight home opener, claimed all three doubles matches and the top-five singles contests to dispatch the Midshipmen (4-1). Seniors

Addison Appleby led the way for W&M with singles and doubles victories, including wins at the top-two singles positions.
The Tribe swept doubles to take the opening point of the match. W&M made quick work of the Midshipmen at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots with matching 6-1 triumphs. The Green and Gold's top pair of Talcott and junior
Ryan Newman continued its strong play, upending Thomas Pecor and Greg Durham for its eighth win in the last 10 matches. The tandem improved to 9-5 overall and 3-1 at No. 1.

Michael Ruamthong clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 victory over Aries Wong and Matthew Lee at No. 3. Appleby and sophomore
Tristan Bautil rounded out the sweep with a 6-4 win over Zach Jennings and Gabriel Pilones at No. 2 to improve to 2-1 on the season.
In singles, the Tribe posted straight-set wins at the top-four positions and won the first five matches to secure the team triumph. Appleby won his second-straight singles match and third on the year in commanding fashion at No. 2. The Tribe senior bounced Wong, 6-2, 6-2, to increase the Green and Gold lead to 2-0.
At No. 1, Talcott knocked off All-Patriot League performer Thomas Pecor in straight sets. The No. 72-ranked player in the country did not drop a game in the opening set, 6-0, before tallying his third-straight win with a 6-4 triumph in the second. Talcott pushed his season ledger to 7-4, including a 3-1 mark at the top post.
Junior
Alec Miller clinched the match with a win at the third spot. After winning the opening set from Gabriel Pilones in a tiebreaker, 7-6, Miller jumped out to an early break advantage in the second and road it to a 6-3 victory. He upped his season record to 4-3.
Senior
Damon Niquet and junior
Lars de Boer rounded out the Tribe victory with singles wins. Niquet won for the fourth time in his last five matches, upending Matthew Lee in three sets, 6-4, 6-7, 10-8, at the fifth spot. He won for the sixth time this season and improved to 3-1 in dual-match play. de Boer downed Greg Durham in a pair of tiebreakers, 7-6, 7-6, at No. 4 for his fourth win of the year.
The Tribe opens a four-match road trip with two in Indiana next week. The Green and Gold travels to Notre Dame on Saturday, Feb. 4, before heading to Valparaiso on Sunday, Feb. 5. W&M match-up with the Fighting Irish is slated for 3 p.m., while Sunday's match against Valpo carries a 10 a.m. start time.
