For the first time since November, the William & Mary women's basketball team will look to rebound from a loss as they welcome Northeastern to Kaplan Arena for a Colonial Athletic Association matchup on Friday, Jan. 13. Tonight's game is the first of a split CAA weekend as the Tribe heads to UNCW to close the weekend on Sunday afternoon. The Green and Gold and Huskies meet for the 18th time in series history on Friday night.
Last Time Out
The William & Mary women's basketball team saw its single-season-school record 11-game winning streak come to an end with a 70-60 setback at College of Charleston on Friday night. Senior
Alexandra Masaquel led three in double-figures for the Green and Gold scoring a season-high 24 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. She added three assists, a block and a steal. Junior
Abby Rendle added 16 points, while senior
Marlena Tremba rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points.
Scouting the Huskies
Northeastern will also look to get back into the win column as they head to William & Mary on Friday. The Huskies enter the game with a 6-9 overall record, but are out to a 2-1 start in league play and have won four of their last five. NU enters the game averaging 59.5 points per game. Francesca Sally is one of two players that is averaging 12.7 points per game. Jess Genco is also in double-figures at 10.6 points per game, while Claudia Ortiz is just off of the pace at 9.3 a night. The Huskies grab a 3.95 rebounds per game. Individually, Sally leads the team by grabbing 7.8 rebounds, while Oritiz is second with 5.2 boards. Kelly Cole is in her third season at the helm in Boston. She owns a 25-50 career record.
Series History
The Green and Gold and Huskies meet for the 18th time in series history on Friday night. It is the first of two meeting between the two schools this year, as the Tribe ships up to Boston for the second game on Friday, Feb. 3. The Huskies hold a slight 9-8 advantage in the series, and the team's split the series a season ago with each team winning at home. Last year, senior
Marlena Tremba led the Tribe against the Huskies averaging 15.5 points and 4.5 assists in the two games. Classmate
Alexandra Masaquel was also in double-figures averaging 13.5 points, and 8.5 rebounds, while junior
Abby Rendle had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in the lone game she played, and senior
Latrice Hunter dropped 15 points in the Tribe's victory.
The Road Ahead
W&M embarks on a two-game road swing following today's game. The Tribe closes out the weekend by heading to UNCW on Sunday, Jan. 15. Tip time is set for 2 p.m. The College closes the road trip as they head to Towson for a game on Friday, Jan. 20. That game is set for a 7 p.m. start.
Double-Digit Dimes
Junior
Jenna Green turned in the best assist performance of her career in the setback at Charleston on Jan. 6. The junior recorded 11 helpers, which topped her career best by three. It was the first time since, Dec. 5, 2015 that a Tribe recorded double-digit dimes. Against Clemson, senior

Rebounding Machine
Senior
Alexandra Masaquel turned in her best single-game rebounding performance when she grabbed a career-high 17 boards at Charleston on Jan. 6. It was the most by a Tribe player since junior
Abby Rendle had 16 on Jan. 22, 2016. It was just the second time in the senior's career she grabbed more than 15 rebounds. Earlier this season she became just the 21st player in school history to grab their 500th career rebound. Now at 540 career rebounds she needs 29 to move into 15th all-time.
Schedule Shift
The William & Mary women's basketball game against Hofstra that was scheduled for Jan. 8 against Hofstra was postponed due to a snow storm that hit the Williamsburg area. As of today, no makeup date as been announced, but be sure to stay tuned to TribeAthletics.com for all schedule information.
