WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary head basketball coach
Ed Swanson announced the hiring of
Lynne-Ann Kokoski on Thursday afternoon. Kokoski joins the Tribe after spending four seasons at Providence.
"I'm thrilled that Lynne-Ann has joined my staff at William & Mary," said Swanson. "She brings seven years of coaching experience to our staff at both the mid-major and high-major level. With that experience, I think she is the right fit to help us reach our goal of becoming a top team in the CAA."
Kokoski served as the coordinator of operations at Providence for the past four seasons. While at Providence, she was in charge of the day-to-day operation of the program. Her responsibilities included: scouting and video breakdown, team travel, and was the team's academic, compliance, and community out-reach contact. In 2015, Providence Athletic Director Robert Driscoll rewarded her with the "Gung Ho Award" for passionate and dedicated service to the Providence College Athletic Department.
"I'm beyond excited to join coach Swanson's staff at William & Mary," Kokoski said. "I have always respected him as a coach, but more importantly as a person. I truly believe he is the right coach to lead the Tribe to a CAA Championship. I am grateful for the opportunity to work under his leadership and to be a part of the Tribe family."
Prior to her time with Friars, Kokoski spent three seasons as an assistant at her alma mater Bryant. She aided the Bulldogs in continuing the transition from Division II to Division I, and helped guide them to 37 victories in the process. During her time, she helped two student-athletes to All-Northeast Conference awards. Off the court, Kokoski assisted with film break down, scouting reports and film exchange.
Kokoski played four years at Bryant, including being named a captain for her senior season. She led the Bulldogs to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship in 2008 and into the NCAA Division II Tournament. During her senior season, she ranked sixth in the country in assist per game (6.7) and 17th in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.01). She still holds the Bryant single-season assist record with 217 during her senior year.
She graduated in May of 2008 from Bryant with a degree in marketing and a minor in sociology. Kokoski went on to earn her master's degree from Bryant in business administration in 2010.
The women's basketball program won 15 games for the second consecutive season. W&M also recorded the best start in school history at 11-2, and won the most non-conference games in school history with nine.
