CHARLESTON, S.C. – Down to its final three-outs, the William & Mary baseball team sent 12 men to the plate and scored seven runs to tie the game at 8-8, and for the moment keep its season alive. After a three up, three down bottom of the ninth the game was put in a rain delay due to Tropical Storm Bonnie. The decision on if the game will continue will be made tomorrow Colonial Athletic Association Tournament officials.
W&M would need to win this game, and win a second game to claim the title. If the game cannot be played, UNCW will receive the leagues automatic berth after winning the league's regular season.
When the game continues, the Tribe will be batting in the top of the 10th with the 4-5-6 men in the lineup due up.
Down to its final three outs, W&M rallied all the way back for seven runs, tying the score. Back-to-back singles from sophomore
Ryan Hall and junior
Ryder Miconi started the rally. A double by sophomore
Cullen Large down the right field line, plated Hall. A double from Gould added two more runs for the Tribe. After an out,
Josh Smith and
Kyle Wrighte singled for the fourth run of the inning. After a walk to Ameer, back-to-back hit by pitches to Socher and Hall brought the Tribe within one. The next batter, Miconi sent a sac fly to centerfield tying the score 8-8.
UNCW jumped on the board first with six runs in the bottom of the third inning. Brian Mims reached on a one-out walk, moving to second on a balk. The next batter, Gavin Stupienski doubled down the right field line. The rally continued as Nick Feight singled up the middle, scoring Stupenski. Back-to-back singles from Casey Golden and Daniel Stack loaded the bases, before Zach Canada doubled down the left field line adding two more runs. A sacrifice fly from Robbie Thorbun followed by a single from Kennard McDowell made it 6-0 Seahawks.
William & Mary tallied a run in the top of the fourth inning. Freshmen

Josh Smith walk. Junior
Charles Ameer followed with a single up the middle, scoring W&M's first run and cutting the lead to 6-1.
The Seahawks added a run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. A bunt single from Steven Linkous, followed by a Mims walk. Stupenski followed with a single, plating Linkous.
Stupienski added the final Seahawk run of the day with a two-out homer in the bottom eighth inning. The blast made it 8-1.
