WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The William & Mary baseball team concludes its regular season as it travels to Charleston for a three-game Colonial Athletic Association series. The set is set to get underway on Thursday, May 19 at 6 p.m., continues on Friday, May 20 at 2:30 p.m., before concluding on Saturday, May 21 at 1 p.m.

• The William & Mary baseball team concludes the regular season with its final Colonial Athletic Association series as they travel to the College of Charleston for a three-game series. The set gets underway on Thursday, May 19 at 6 p.m., continues Friday, May 20 at 2:30 p.m., and concludes Saturday, May 21 at 1 p.m.

SERIES HISTORY
• William & Mary and the College of Charleston meet for the 9th-11th time this weekend in Chucktown. The Cougars lead the all-time series by a 7-1. Last season, the Cougars swept the three-game set in Williamsburg.

Charley Gould went 3-for-11 in the series.
Josh Smith recorded two doubles, while Gould homered and had two RBI.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
• Charleston enters the final weekend of the regular season coming off of a CAA series win over Northeastern. They own a 27-23-1 record overall, and are 10-11 in league play, and currently sit in fifth place, but have to do some work this weekend to secure a spot in next week's tournament.
• As a team, the CofC is batting .255 this year. Dupree Hart leads the team with a .310 batting average, adding 11 doubles, one triple two homers, and 31 RBI. Bradley Jones leads the team in terms of slugging categories with 12 doubles, 11 homers, and 45 RBI. Morgan Phillips is second on the team with six homers and 34 RBI.
• On the mound Charleston boasts a combined 4.46 ERA. Nathan Helvey anchors the rotation with a 3.67 ERA, tossing 83.1 innings, with 57 strikeouts. Bailey Ober leads the team with 83 strikeouts. Will Detwiler leads the Cougars with 25 appearances, while Carter Love leads the team with eight saves.
• Matt Heath is in his first season as the skipper of the Cougars. He owns a 27-23-1 record.

• The 2016 CAA Baseball Championship, which the Tribe has already qualified for, takes place in Charleston, S.C. from May 25-28.  The Tribe can finish no worse than second, and are still in play for the regular season. W&M's first game of the CAA Tournament will come on Thursday, May 26.

THE WRIGHTE WAY
• Freshman
Kyle Wrighte enjoyed one of the best weeks of his rookie season over the weekend on May 6-8 as he went 6-for-12 in the three-game series against Towson. He also provided the excitement in the Tribe's two victories. He doubled in the bottom of the ninth for the walk-off victory, before breaking the 1-1 tie in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI on Sunday.
• For the season, he's started every game hitting .270 with eight doubles, a triple, and 23 RBI.

POSTSEASON SUCCESS
• For the first time since qualifying for the CAA Tournament started, the W&M baseball team has made the tournament for the last four consecutive seasons. In three of the last four year's the Tribe has finished either first or second in the CAA. It is the first-time since the Division I era that the Tribe has been first or second in its league for three of four years.
• The first two seasons, the Tribe reached the CAA Championship game. During the last three seasons, W&M has made a trip to the NCAA Tournament and won the CAA regular season tournament.

HOW TO SAVE A GAME
• With his save against Northeastern on April 23, senior
Joseph Gaouette recorded his 15th career, which passed John Farrell for the school record. Gaouette has recorded nine saves this season, and is now two saves away from breaking the single-season record of 10 saves.
• For the year, the Reston, Virginia native owns a 3.42 ERA, pitching 23.2 innings, and recording 32 strikeouts.

• For the third time this season, a
Daniel Powers start ended up as a Tribe shutout as the junior went seven innings allowing just five hits as W&M completed the sweep at Northeastern.
 • Against James Madison he tossed a then-career-high 7.1 innings, scattering just three hits, after at Charlotte, Powers nearly did the same thing blanking the 49ers for the first seven innings.
• For his efforts, the Vienna, Va. native was named CAA Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 18.
• Powers has a team-best seven wins to go along with a 4.46 ERA, 32 strikeouts in 74.2 innings.

• With Opening Day taking place last month, in Major League Baseball, the Tribe has four players on the road to the show.

• The Tribe ranks 65th in the country with 6.6 runs per game, but when the team starts scoring the runs usually come in bunches. W&M has had 28 innings this season, where they have plated four, or more runs.
• Furthermore, the Green and Gold have had six games where they have scored four, or more, runs in multiple innings.
• The most runs W&M has scored an inning this season has been 7 on April 3 against Georgetown, but the Tribe has also scored six runs an inning five times this season.Â

Josh Smith has had some flair for the dramatic this season with both of the Tribe's walk-off hits this season. Against Holy Cross he lifted a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored
Kyle Wrighte on a sacrifice fly. On Saturday against Georgetown,
Josh Smith launched a walkoff homer over the centerfield wall sending the Tribe home winners.
• He was joined by redshirt freshman
Kyle Wrighte, who recorded his first career walk-off with a double against Towson on Saturday afternoon.
