W&M got a run back in the top of the fourth. Hunter Smith manufactured the run on his own. He doubled with an out, before moving to third on a groundout. He later came around to score on a wild pitch.

The Mountaineers tacked on two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Kyle Gray reached on a lead off single, moving to second on a stolen base, and to third on a flyout. Davis followed with a single to center. A double by Darius Hill gave WVU a 6-3 advantage.

Ameer brought the Tribe back within two runs with a solo shot in the top of the fifth. His sixth of the season cut the deficit to 6-4.

The Green and Gold tied the score with two runs in the top of the sixth inning. Back-to-back singles from Hunter Smith and senior Josh Smith, who both moved up a sacrifice bunt by freshman Kyle Wrighte. A groundout by Ameer provided the first run, before Josh Smith scored on a wild pitch.

WVU scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Davis led off the inning with a walk, moving to second on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Ray Guerrini singled up the middle, making the score 7-6.

Freshman starting pitcher Bodie Sheehan didn't factor into the decision. He tossed 3.1 innings allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits. Senior Mitchell Aker was saddled with his second loss, going 3.1 innings, allowing two runs on two hits.
