News and Notes
- Hofstra leads the all-time series at 17-11, including wins in both meetings this season. The season sweep snapped a four-game Tribe win streak in the series. In 2015, W&M won all three meetings between the teams, including a memorable 92-91 double overtime classic in the CAA semifinals. Sunday marks the fourth times the teams have met in the CAA Tournament.

- W&M is playing in its seventh CAA semifinal and fifth in the last nine years under head coach Tony Shaver. The Green and Gold is 4-0 under Shaver in semifinal games. Only one No. 5 seed has advanced to the CAA Championship Game, and that was the Tribe in 2008 when it knocked off No. 1 seed VCU, 56-54, in the semifinals.

- A win over Hofstra would give W&M it third straight Championship Game appearance. The Tribe would become the fifth team in CAA history with title game streaks of three or more years, joining George Mason (2007-09), UNCW (2000-03), James Madison (1992-95) and Navy (1984-87).

- The Tribe is 5-3 all-time as the No. 5 seed in the CAA Tournament. Since 2008, the Green and Gold leads the CAA with 12 tournament wins and four CAA Championship Game appearances.

- Junior Omar Prewitt, who was a First Team All-CAA pick, led W&M in scoring for the ninth time in the last 10 games with 25 points in the quarterfinals vs. JMU. Over the last two years, he is averaging 19.5 points per game in the CAA Tournament, including a career-high 33 vs. Hofstra in the semifinals last season.

- W&M won its 20th game in the quarterfinals vs. JMU on Saturday. It marks the third-straight season that the Tribe won 20 games. It is the second time in school history and first since 1951 that has occurred.

Scouting Hofstra
Hofstra advanced to the CAA semifinals with an 80-67 win over Drexel on Saturday. The Pride rides a seven-game win streak into Sunday's contest, the second-long streak for HU in the CAA era. Hofstra is 23-8 overall, the third-most wins in HU's Division I history, and claimed a share of the CAA regular season championship with a 14-4 league record.

The Pride averages 79.3 points per game, which ranks second in the CAA and 41st nationally. Hofstra leads the CAA and ranks 41st nationally at 39.5 rebounds per game. HU shoots 35.9 percent from 3-point range and averages 8.5 longballs per game. According to KenPom.com, the Pride ranks 51st nationally in offensive efficiency at 111.0.

Senior Juan'ya Green was named the CAA Player of the Year and was joined on the league's first team by sophomore Rokas Gustys. Green averages 17.8 points per game, while leading the CAA and ranking sixth nationally at 7.1 assists per contest. Gustys averages a double-double at 13.7 points and 12.7 rebounds per game. He ranks fourth nationally in rebounding and adds 19 double-doubles to his resume. Gustys leads the CAA at 65.6 percent shooting from the field.

All five Hofstra starters average in double figures. Senior Ameen Tanksley, who was a Second Team All-CAA pick, ranks eighth in the league at 15.5 points per game. Brian Bernardi and Denton Koon round out the double-digit scorers at 12.6 and 11.5 points per game, respectively. Bernardi is one of the top 3-point shooters in the CAA at 40 percent from long range and 2.6 3-pointers per game.

Hofstra leads the all-time series at 17-11, including wins in both meetings this season. The Pride downed W&M, 91-63, in Hempstead, before tallying an 86-80 win in Williamsburg. The season series sweep snapped a four-game Tribe win streak against the Pride. In 2015, the Tribe won all three meetings between the teams, including a memorable 92-91 double overtime win in the CAA semifinals. Sunday marks the fourth meeting between the teams in the CAA Tournament.

Three-Straight 20-Win Seasons
With its win over JMU in the CAA quarterfinals, the Tribe posted its 20th victory on the year, marking the third-straight season in which W&M won 20 or more games. It is the second time in school history and first since 1951 that W&M won 20 games in three-straight seasons. The Tribe won a school-record 24 games in 1948-49, before posting 23 in 1949-50 and 20 in 1950-51. The 2015-16 season is the ninth in the 111-year history of Tribe basketball that W&M won 20 or more games. Four of those nine 20-win campaigns have come under head coach Tony Shaver. The Tribe won 22 games in 2010, before winning 20 each of the last three seasons. Those 20 wins rank fourth in W&M history.

CAA Semifinal Appearances
With its victory over JMU on Saturday, the Tribe advanced to the CAA semifinals for the seventh time, including the fifth time in the last nine years under head coach Tony Shaver. In fact, Shaver is 4-0 as the Tribe's head coach in the CAA semifinals and owns the program's only wins in the semifinals. Under Shaver, W&M recorded victories over VCU in 2008 (56-54), Northeastern in 2010 (47-45), Towson in 2014 (75-71) and Hofstra (92-91 in 2OT) in 2015 in the CAA semifinals. The Green and Gold also advanced to the league semifinals in 1988 and 1997, but suffered setbacks to George Mason (95-79) and Old Dominion (70-62), respectively. Among current CAA teams, only Northeastern has as many semifinal appearances as the Tribe over the last nine years.

Trip Down Memory Lane
W&M and Hofstra meet in the CAA semifinals for the second straight year. The second go around has a lot to live up to after the team's played arguably the greatest CAA Tournament game in league history a season ago. The epic, back-and-forth classic culminated in a Daniel Dixon 3-pointer from the left corner with 0.8 seconds remaining. The Tribe rallied from deficits at the end of regulation, in the first OT and then again for the final time on Dixon's game-winner. The Green and Gold trailed Hofstra by nine points with five minutes remaining and by five points with less than a minute left in regulation. Marcus Thornton scored the final five points of regulation to send the game to its first OT. Hofstra led W&M, 83-80, with 52 seconds remaining in the first extra session, but it was again Thornton who knocked down a 3-pointer to send it to a second OT. The Tribe trailed the Pride, 91-89, with 8.3 second remaining before Thornton found Dixon for a corner 3-pointer with 0.8 ticks left to give W&M the victory. Thornton set a CAA Tournament record with 37 points, while Omar Prewitt added 33 points. They became the first teammates to score 30 or more points in a CAA Tournament game. Juan'ya Green led Hofstra with 26 points and seven assists, while Dion Nesmith added 21 points and five assists before fouling out. Brian Bernardi finished with 17 points and eight rebounds to go with Rokas Gustys' eight points and nine rebounds. W&M shot 49.1 percent from the field, hitting 12-of-28 from 3-point range and 24-of-35 at the charity stripe. On the other side, the Pride connected on 49.3 percent and 12-of-35 from 3-point range, but was only 13-of-25 at the free throw line.

Bench Production
The bench has been a valuable component to the Tribe's success in 2015-16, and the CAA quarterfinal win over James Madison was no different. The sophomore quartet of Connor Burchfield, Greg Malinowski, Oliver Tot and Jack Whitman combined to outscore JMU's reserves, 29-13. The Tribe bench was 10-of-14 from the floor (71.4 percent), 4-of-7 from 3-point range (57.1 percent) and 5-of-6 from the free throw line (83.3 percent) to go with 13 rebounds, three assists and four steals. Burchfield scored 11 points off the bench, while Whitman tied a career-high with nine points and five rebounds. Malinowski added six points and four rebounds. On the year, the Tribe averages 17.5 points and nine rebounds per game off the bench while shooting 49 percent (190-of-388) from the field and 40.9 percent (72-of-176) from 3-point range. The Green and Gold has scored 20 or more points off the bench on 11 occasions this season, sporting a 9-2 mark in those games. Over the last two years, the Green and Gold is 18-4 (.818) when outscoring its foes in bench.

Prewitt Scoring at High Level
Junior Omar Prewitt continued his strong play in the CAA Tournament, scoring 18 of his game-high 25 points against James Madison in the second half. Over the last two CAA Tournaments, he is averaging 19.5 points per game, while shooting 52.1 percent (25-of-48) from the floor. Last season, Prewitt scored a career-high 33 points in the CAA semifinal win over Hofstra. With his 25 points against JMU, the Tribe junior moved into 13th place on the Tribe's career scoring list with 1,356 points. His 547 points in 2015-16 also rank 13th on W&M's single-season list. Prewitt, who leads the CAA in scoring at 18.2 points per game, has been on a tear of late. He led W&M in scoring in nine of the last 10 games, producing six 20-point contests over that stretch. Over the last eight games, he is averaging 21.9 points per game, shooting 54.7 percent from the floor and 41.7 percent from 3. Prewitt is one of just 17 players in the country to average 18 points per game and shoot better than 50 percent from the field.

20-0 Runs
After falling behind 6-1, three and half minutes into its CAA quarterfinal with JMU, the Tribe ripped off a 20-0 run to take a lead it would not relinquish. It marked the second time in the last three weeks that the Tribe recorded a run of 20-0 or better to seize control of a game. Against the Dukes, W&M held its counterpart scoreless for nearly 11 minutes (10:41). During the stretch, JMU missed 12 straight shots. Offensively, the Tribe bench scored 11 straight points, before a Sean Sheldon old-fashion 3-point play gave W&M a 21-6 lead. In its victory over UNCW on Feb. 18, the Tribe used a 23-0 run to roll past the Seahawks. Following a 19-2 UNCW run, the Tribe trailed the regular-season champion Seahawks, 61-49, with 10:37 left. Senior Terry Tarpey (8), junior Daniel Dixon (8) and sophomore David Cohn (5) combined for 21 of the 23 points on the 23-0 run and dished out six assists on the Tribe's eight made field goals over the stretch. In total, W&M hit 11 of its final 13 shots from the floor against the Seahawks, including six 3-pointers, to outscore UNCW, 38-8, over the final 10 and a half minutes. The Green and Gold held UNCW to 3-of-17 shooting during the stretch, including 0-of-7 during the 23-0 sequence.

Strong Free Throw Shooting
The Tribe has been strong at the charity stripe of late, including during the CAA quarterfinal win over James Madison. The Green and Gold connected on 23-of-25 from the free throw line, shooting a W&M CAA-record 92 percent against the Dukes. It is the second-best free throw percentage for the Tribe this season, behind only the 93.3 percent (14-of-15) against Towson on Dec. 31. In the win over JMU, the Green and Gold held off a late flurry of Dukes' 3-pointers, hitting 17-of-18 at the line in the second-half. It marked the fourth time in the last eight games that W&M hit 84 percent or better from the free throw line. Over the stretch, the Tribe is shooting 78.3 percent (148-of-189) at the line. W&M leads the CAA at 72.2 percent from the charity stripe this season. The Green and Gold is 16-4 (.800) when making more free throws than its opponent in 2015-16, including a 4-1 mark when hitting 20 or more freebies in a game.

Cohn at the Line
Sophomore David Cohn continued to cement himself as the Tribe's top free throw shooter during its CAA quarterfinal win over JMU. He became the first Tribe player to go 6-of-6 or better at the charity stripe in a CAA Tournament game. His efforts pushed his season free throw percentage to 83.5, which is tied for the 12th-best mark in school history. Cohn ranks third in the CAA at the free throw line. Over the last seven games, he has connected on 41 of his last 42 attempts at the line. Earlier this season, he became the first player in Tribe history to go a perfect 10-of-10 or better from the line in two games. He was 12-of-12 against UNCW on Feb. 18 and hit 10-of-10 vs. Hampton on Nov. 25.
