News and Notes- The Tribe is the No. 5 seed in the CAA Tournament for the fourth time in program history. W&M is 4-3 as the No. 5 seed, earning the spot in 1993, 1997 and 2008 as well. During the 2008 tournament, the No. 5-seeded Tribe advanced to its first final with last second victories in each of the first three rounds.

Scouting James MadisonJames Madison enters the weekend at 21-10 overall. It marks the Dukes' fourth 20-win season in eight years under head coach Matt Brady. JMU is the No. 4 seed in the CAA Tournament after finishing in a three-way tie for third with Towson and W&M at 11-7 in league play.Â

JMU sports one of the CAA's top defenses. The Dukes are second in the league and 64th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency at 98.2. They limit teams to 68.3 points per game and shooting percentages of 39.3 from the floor and 29.0 from 3-point range. The defensive shooting percentages lead the CAA. JMU was even better in league play, holding foes to just 37.9 percent shooting overall and 26.3 percent from 3-point range. Offensively, JMU averages 75.5 points per game, while ranking third in the league in field goal percentage (45.2) and 3-point percentage (36.3). The Dukes average 8.7 3-pointers made per game and rank second in the CAA in rebounding margin (+3.6).

Senior Ron Curry, who scored 21 points against W&M on Feb. 27, leads JMU and ranks fifth in the CAA at 17.2 points per game. A First Team All-CAA selection, he scored a league-best 19.2 points per game in CAA play. Curry, who hit 2.8 3-pointers per game in league play, ranks sixth in the league at 38.3 percent from long range and seventh in assists (3.6). Junior Shakir Brown is second on the Dukes in scoring at 11.3 points per game. He is fourth in the CAA at 38.6 percent from 3-point range and 15th in rebounding at 5.9 per game. Junior Yohanny Dalembert, who scored 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting vs. W&M on Feb. 27, is JMU's top low-post player, averaging 9.4 points, seven rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game.

JMU leads the all-time series with W&M at 49-42 and snapped the Tribe's five-game win streak in the series with a 71-65 triumph on Feb. 27. The Green and Gold is 19-12 against the Dukes under head coach
Tony Shaver. The teams will play for the 11th time in the CAA Tournament with JMU holding a 7-3 advantage. Saturday marks the fifth time in the last eight years that W&M and JMU have squared off in the CAA Tournament. Earlier this season, W&M rallied from an 18-point first-half deficit to down JMU, 68-62, in Williamsburg.

Multiple All-CAA Honors For the fourth-straight year, multiple W&M players garnered All-CAA honors as senior

Omar Prewitt earned all-league awards for the second consecutive season. Prewitt was named a First Team All-CAA selection for the first time in his career, while Tarpey received second team accolades for the second time in as many seasons. It marks the 14th occasion that W&M placed multiple players on an all-conference team, pulling the trick six times as a member of the Southern Conference, one time in the ECAC South and seven times in the CAA. Last season, W&M set a program record for three all-league selections. Tarpey and Prewitt bring the total of All-CAA players under head coach
Tony Shaver to 18. Tarpey became the fifth player in W&M history to be named to the top two All-CAA teams on at least two occasions in his career. He joined Thomas Roberts (1991, 1992, 1993), Jim Moran (2000 and 2001), Adam Hess (2003 and 2004) and
Marcus Thornton (2013, 2014 and 2015) on the distinguished list. Prewitt, who was a third-team pick last season, is the fourth player in program lore to be named First Team All-CAA. He joins Randy Bracy (1998), Thornton (2014 and 2015) and Hess (2003 and 2004) in being named to the CAA's top team.

Two-Time CAA Defensive Player of the Year After becoming the first Tribe player to earn CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors last season, senior
Terry Tarpey became just the fifth player in league history to earn the defensive player of the year honor on two occasions, taking home the award in 2016. He joined a list that includes two former CAA standouts that played in the NBA in Old Dominion's Kent Bazemore (2011 and 2012), who currently plays for the Atlanta Hawks, and VCU's Larry Sanders (2009 and 2010), who was a first round pick of the Milwaukee Bucks. George Evans of George Mason (1999 and 2001) and Drexel's Robert Battle (2002 and 2003) were two-time CAA Defensive Players of the Year as well. Tarpey leads the CAA and ranks 25th nationally at 2.1 steals per game to go along with ranking second in the league at 1.4 blocked shots per game. Being named to the CAA All-Defensive team for the second straight year, Tarpey became the fourth Tribe player to earn multiple all-defensive team honors and the first since 1996. He joined Curtis Pride (1988, 1989, Derrick Peters (1991, 1992) and David Cully (1994, 1995, 1996) in being named to the team on at least two occasions.

Schlotman, Sheldon Earn All-Academic Team Honors The Tribe placed two players, senior
Sean Sheldon and sophomore
Michael Schlotman, among the 15 on the CAA All-Academic Team in 2016. W&M was one of four teams in the league to have multiple players on the All-Academic team, joining Elon, Towson and Charleston. It marks the second straight season that Schlotman was an All-Academic selection, while Sheldon earned the honor for the first time. Schlotman is an accounting major and a two-time W&M Provost Award winner. Sheldon will graduate from W&M in May with a double major in elementary education and kinesiology and health sciences. In Search of Win No. 20 Coming off back-to-back 20-win seasons, the Tribe enters the 2016 CAA Championship looking for its 20th win of the year. W&M's 19 wins in 2015-16 rank ninth in program lore and give the program four of the top-10 win totals in school history under head coach
Tony Shaver, all since 2008. The Tribe won 22 games in 2010, before winning 20 each of the last two seasons. Those 20 wins rank fourth in W&M history. With one more victory, the Green and Gold would secure its third-straight 20-win season. It would be the second time in school history and first since 1951 that W&M won 20 games in three-straight seasons. The Tribe won a school-record 24 games in 1948-49, before posting 23 in 1949-50 and 20 in 1950-51.

Omar Prewitt leads the CAA in scoring at 18 points per game, becoming just the second Tribe player, along with Adam Hess, to lead the league. He has scored in double figures in 26 of the Tribe's 29 games this season, including each of the last 11 contests. Prewitt owns five 20-point games in the last eight games, including a career-long four-game streak from Feb. 4-13. Prewitt started the stretch with 28 points on 12-of-18 shooting in a win at Northeastern. He followed that up with 21 points against Delaware, 25 vs. Hofstra and 20 at Towson on Feb. 13. He recorded a season-high 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting against Drexel. His 12 20-point games this season are tied for the CAA lead along with JMU's Ron Curry and Northeastern's David Walker. W&M is 8-4 when Prewitt scores 20 points this season. Over the last eight games, he is averaging 21.5 points per game, shooting 54.5 percent from the floor and 41.9 percent from 3. He topped W&M in scoring in seven of those eight contests. Prewitt is one of just 17 players in the country to average 18 points per game and shoot better than 50 percent from the field. His 522 points on the season rank 15th on the Tribe's single-season list

Winner-WinnerOver the last three years, the Green and Gold sports the best record both overall and in league play among CAA teams. The Tribe is 59-35 (.628) overall and 33-19 (.635) in CAA action over the last three years. The Tribe's 59 wins are two better than Towson and seven more than Hofstra. In CAA play, W&M has 33 wins, which are four more than Hofstra, Towson, UNCW and JMU. The Green and Gold is the only team in the conference over the stretch with a winning percentage over 60 percent.

Defensive Stalwart The top defensive player in the CAA for the second straight year, senior
Terry Tarpey is one of only two players in the country, averaging two steals and a blocked shots per game. Along with Tarpey, Green Bay's Jordan Fouse is the other player with the defensive averages. Tarpey's 58 steals this season tied his mark from last season and are the most for a W&M player since steals became an official NCAA statistic in 1985. He ranks 25th in the country at 2.1 steals per game, while coming in 31st, according to KenPom.com, in steal percentage (3.8). Tarpey is second in the CAA at 1.4 blocked shots per game.

Top Scoring Teams in School HistoryThe 2015-16 version of the Tribe is among the top scoring teams in school history, ranking in the top five in both total points and points per game. The Tribe's 2,238 points this season are third in program lore. W&M's 77.2 points per game average is the fifth in program history and the best since 1970 (78.4).
