Maria Groener and freshman
Lauren Goodman each posted a singles and a doubles win for the Tribe (11-4) in the triumph over the Pirates (12-5).

Elizaveta Nemchinov and Faure tallied their fifth victory at No. 1, dispatching of Nicole LaDuca and Celia Ruiz, 6-1. The Tribe pair made quick work of an ECU pair that entered the match at 16-3 overall and 13-1 at No. 1. Nemchinov and Faure improved to 7-4 on the year.
Groener and Goodman clinched the initial point of the match with a win at the No. 2 post. They rolled past Sarah Sarjoo and Maria Storozheva, 6-1, to push their record to 8-2 on the year.
Groener and classmate
Olivia Thaler wasted little time pushing the Tribe lead to 3-0 with emphatic singles wins. Groener won her fourth-straight match, dropping just two games in routing Sarjoo, 6-0, 6-2, at the sixth spot. She upped her win total to 12, while taking out a Pirate foe that entered the match at 12-2 in dual-match play.
Thaler rolled past Kate Hoch, 6-2, 6-1, at the No. 5 position for her fourth win the last five matches. The Tribe sophomore won her 10th match of the year, improving to 7-4 in dual-match play. Hoch sported 10-2 record in duals entering the tilt.
Goodman won the final five games of the second set to trump ECU's Nicole LaDuca, 6-2, 6-2, and clinch the Tribe victory. The Tribe rookie won her second-straight match and fifth in the last six contests. She pushed her season ledger to 12-6 overall, including a 5-2 mark at No. 3.
Faure and senior
Julia Casselbury rounded out the Tribe victory with three-set wins at No. 2 and No. 4, respectively. Faure upended Maria Storozheva in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 10-5, to improve to 10-5 on the season. Casselbury rallied from a set deficit to down Michelle Castro at the four slot. Castro took the opening set, 6-4, before the Tribe senior rallied with a tiebreaker in the second, 7-6 (2). In the third-set super tiebreaker, Casselbury trailed 7-6 before ripping off the final four points to post her 13th win of the year.
The Green and Gold closes out the weekend when it hosts Marshall on Sunday, March 20. The match is slated for a 2 p.m. start time and schedule to be played at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center.
