Don't Call it a ComebackW&M has enjoyed a number of memorable comebacks in 2015-16, including rallying from double-digits on fours occasions. Under head coach
Tony Shaver, the Tribe has made it a habit of rallying from those types of deficits, doing it on 21 occasions. Here is a look at some of the Tribe's comebacks this season:
Â
- Following a 19-2 UNCW, the Tribe trailed the CAA-leading Seahawks, 61-49, with 10:37 left on Thursday. W&M answered with a 23-0 run and outscored the visitors from the south, 38-8, the rest of the way. Senior

In total, W&M hit 11 of its final 13 shots from the floor against the Seahawks, including six 3-pointers, while holding UNCW to 3-of-17 shooting, including 0-of-7 during the 23-0 sequence.
Â
- The Tribe rallied from an 18-point deficit, its second-largest comeback under Shaver, in a 68-62 win over James Madison on Jan. 31. After falling behind the Dukes, 31-13, with 8:55 left in the opening half, the Green and Gold held the Dukes to just 27.7 percent shooting and 3-of-25 from 3-point range over the final 28:55 of the game. Â
Perfect at the LineFor the second time this season, sophomore
David Cohn was perfect from the free throw line, connecting on double-digit attempts from the charity stripe against UNCW. He was a perfect 12-of-12 against the Seahawks on Feb. 18 after hitting 10-of-10 vs. Hampton on Nov. 25. It marked the ninth and 10th time in W&M history that a player connected on 100 percent from the free throw line when attempting 10 or more at the charity stripe. Cohn is the first player in program history to have two such games in a career let alone a single-season. His 12-of-12 against UNCW was the best for a W&M player since Adam Hess hit the same number vs. VCU on Jan. 18, 2003. Cohn leads the Tribe and ranks sixth in the CAA hitting 80.5 percent from the free throw line.
Â
Welcome to the 80'sFor the first time in 47 years, the Tribe scored 80 or more points in five straight games, following its 87-69 win vs. UNCW. In fact, the Green and Gold tallied at least 80 points in eight of its last 10 contests. The last time W&M scored 80 or more points in five straight games came in 1969. During the first five games of December in 1969, the Tribe scored 84 vs. N.C. State, 80 at West Virginia, 84 at Virginia Tech, 82 at Georgetown and 81 vs. Richmond. No Green and Gold team has scored 80 or more points in six straights contests. The Green and Gold is averaging 83.3 points per game over the last 10 contests. On the year, the Tribe is scoring 78 points per game, which is the fourth-best single-season scoring averaging in program history and the best since 1970 (78.4). In CAA play, W&M ranks second in the league at 79.5 points per game.
Â
Winning Double-Digit CAA Games With its win over UNCW, the Tribe recorded its 10th CAA win, marking the third straight season in which the program won double-digit league games. In total, it is the fifth time under head coach
Tony Shaver that the Green and Gold has won 10 or more CAA contests. Prior to Shaver's arrival in Williamsburg, the Green and Gold had just one such season in CAA play. W&M was 10-6 in conference action in 2013-14 and followed that up winning the regular season at 12-6 last year. Overall, it's the first time the Tribe has won 10 or more league games in three-straight seasons since the 1949-50, 1950-51 and 1951-52 seasons as part of the Southern Conference. The 2015-16 edition of the Tribe is the 12th to post double-digit league wins in the Tribe's 80 years being affiliated with a conference.Â
