Men's Tennis Wraps up Homestand with Saturday Doubleheader

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - For the second-straight season, the William & Mary men's tennis team hosts Mid-American Conference foe Binghamton and BIG EAST counterpart Villanova in a doubleheader at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. Winners of four straight, the Green and Gold welcome the pair to Williamsburg on Saturday, Feb. 13. The Tribe meets the Bearcats at 10 a.m., before taking on the Wildcats at 5 p.m.

Scouting William & Mary
W&M continued its winning ways last week with victories over Radford, 7-0, and Penn, 5-2, at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The Green and Gold routed the Highlanders, winning all three doubles matches, before claiming all six singles matches in straight sets. For the second time in as many days, the Tribe took the doubles point this time against the Quakers thanks to the combinations of senior Scott Huang and sophomore Alec Miller at No. 2 and the No. 3 tandem of junior Damon Niquet and sophomore Christian Cargill. Both pairs entered the Saturday's doubleheader undefeated on the season at 2-0 and 4-0, respectively. Cargill, sophomore Lars de Boer, Niquet and junior Aidan Talcott posted two singles wins each during the triumphs over Radford and Penn. Talcott is a perfect 6-0 in dual-match play and 10-6 overall, while both Cargill and Niquet have won four straight in singles. Cargill improved to 5-2 at the top singles post, and he leads the team with 10 doubles wins. Sophomore Alec Miller leads the Tribe with 11 singles wins on the year. As a team, W&M is 29-13 (.690) in dual-match singles action, including 6-1 record at the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 positions.

Scouting Binghamton
Binghamton enters the weekend at 4-2 on the year. The Bearcats travel to Richmond to take on VCU Friday, before heading to Williamsburg on Saturday. Binghamton opened their season with four straight wins over UConn (6-1), Bryant (5-2), Marist (4-3) and Bucknell (7-0). Last weekend, the Bearcats suffered two losses on the road at Brown (6-1) and St. John's (5-2). Last season, BU went 8-16 and advanced to the Mid-American Conference Championship match before falling to Buffalo. Sid Hazarika and Eliott Hureau are the Bearcats top two players. Hazarika was a First-Team All-MAC selection last season and is currently 4-1 at the No. 1 singles post. Hureau, who was a Second-Team All-MAC pick in 2015, was named the MAC Player of the Week on Wednesday after upsetting the No. 56-ranked player in the country from St. John's during the team's dual-match over the weekend. He is 12-6 overall on the year and 5-1 in dual-match play at the top two positions. He is tied for the team lead in singles wins with freshman Valentin Bouchet, who is 12-4. Hureau and Bouchet have played the first five matches of the year at the No. 1 doubles post for BU, going 2-3.
