Women's Basketball Welcomes Dartmouth on Thursday Night

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – After a big win over Delaware State to start the week, the William & Mary women's basketball team finishes out its two-game homestand with a match-up against Dartmouth on Thursday night, Dec. 1.  Tipoff in Kaplan Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Opening Tip
The William & Mary women's basketball puts its four-game winning streak on the line as they welcome Dartmouth to Kaplan Arena on Thursday, Dec. 1. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. Tonight's matchup closes the Tribe's second homestand of the season, and continues a stretch of three games in six days. The Green and Gold meet Dartmouth for the fourth time in series history on Thursday night.
 
Last Time Out
The William & Mary women's basketball team opened the game with an 11-0 run and never looked back in an 82-48 thumping of Delaware State on Monday night inside of Kaplan Arena. Senior Marlena Tremba scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-8 from behind the arc. The senior added a rebound, two assists, in three steals in her seventh consecutive double-digit performance. Sophomore Bianca Boggs finished the night with 16 points, four boards, two blocks, and a steal. Senior Alexandra Masaquel as well as juniors Jenna Green and Abby Rendle all finished with eight points.  The Tribe shot a season-high 50.7-percent (34-of-67) from the field in the victory. The 34 made buckets are tied for ninth best in school history. W&M also connected on a season-high nine 3-pointers, led by Tremba with five. Her 5-for-8 from distance was the sixth best single-game percentage at 62.5-percent.
 
Scouting the Big Green
Dartmouth kicks off a four-game road trip this week. The Big Green travels to play Old Dominion on Wednesday at 11 a.m., and enter the week at 2-2 for the season. Kate Letwkewicz and Fanni Szabo lead the offense with 11.8 points per game. Isalys Quinones is just off of the pace with 8.3 points. The Big Green brings down 36.8 rebounds a night. Individually, Letkewicz is the team leader with 7.5 rebounds per game, while Quinones brings down 7.0 boards a contest. Belle Koclanes is in her fourth season in Hanover, N.H. A graduate of Richmond, she has posted a 33-57 record as the head coach of the Big Green.
 
Series History
The Green and Gold meet Dartmouth for the fourth time in series history on Thursday night. The Tribe leads the all-time series by 2-1, but this will be the first meeting since Dec. 28, 1999. The Tribe 79-66 victory on their way to capturing the Dartmouth Christmas Classic crown in Hanover, N.H.
 
The Road Ahead
W&M closes its stretch of three games in six days as it hits the road to take on American on Saturday, Dec. 3. Tip time between the Tribe and Eagles is set for 2 p.m. W&M will have a 12-day layoff for exams before returning to the court as they travel to Norfolk State on Thursday, Dec. 15. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
 
Good Works Team
William & Mary women's basketball senior Alexandra Masaquel was named one of 97 women's basketball players across all levels of college basketball as a nominee for the Allstate Good Works team announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Wednesday morning. Masaquel joins Delaware's Hannah Jardine and Hofstra's Sydni Epps as the Colonial Athletic Association's three nominees. Tribe men's basketball player redshirt junior Paul Rowley was also named to the Allstate Good Works team on the men's side. William & Mary is one of just 31 DI teams, and joins Hofstra as the only two schools in the league with a nominee on both the women's and men's side.
 
Going Green
Sophomore Jenna Green has picked up her scoring in the last three contests finishing with 22 points combined (7.3 ppg). The facilitator of the Tribe's offense she has been a steady spot in the Tribe's lineup appearing in all 66 games of her career. Green already ranks 14th in school history with 235 assists, while her 118 dimes last season was the ninth-best assists season in school history.
 
Lighting Up the Scoreboard
For the first time since the 2014-15 season the Tribe broke the 80-point barrier with 82 points in the victory over Delaware State. W&M shot a season-best 50.7-percent (34-for-67) from the field. The 34 made buckets are tied for the ninth-most in single-game history.
 
Reeling in the Wins
With a win tonight, the W&M women's basketball team will win its fifth stretch, which will be just the second time since 2008-09 that the Green and Gold has strung together five victories in a row. The longest winning streak in school history is 21-games, which happened over a handful of seasons from 1926-30. In terms of single-season win streaks the longest is eight games, which took place twice from Feb. 12-March 6, 1981. W&M has also had three, seven-game winning streaks in school history.
