News and Notes
- W&M and Central Michigan meet for the second straight season on Tuesday night in Mount Pleasant. The Tribe topped the Chippewas, 88-84, in Williamsburg last season.
- The Tribe is 3-9 all-time against the Mid-American Conference. In total, the Green and Gold has played six of the 12 teams in the MAC.
- Both W&M and Central Michigan rank among the national leaders in 3-pointers made. The Chippewas are eighth in the country at 11 3-pointers per game, while the Tribe is 61st at nine per contest.
- The Tribe leads the CAA and ranks 35th nationally in assists per game (17.4). According to KenPom.com, W&M ranks third in the country in assist rate, recording an assist on over 70 percent of its made field goals against Division I competition (70.8).
- Junior
Jack Whitman has scored in double figures in each of his last three games, averaging 15 points per contest over the stretch. He just missed a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds against Liberty.
- The Green and Gold knocked down 28 free throws on 41 attempts in the win over Liberty. It marked the ninth time under head coach
Tony Shaver that W&M hit 28 or more free throws in a game and the 41 attempts were the most for the program since 2004.
- Senior
Omar Prewitt scored a season-high 23 points in the win over Liberty. It was his 22nd career 20-point game and the Tribe is 15-7 in those contests.

Scouting Central Michigan
- Central Michigan enters the game with the Tribe at 5-2 on the year following an 89-77 road win at Green Bay on Saturday. CMU started the season with four-straight wins, including an 88-77 win over Pepperdine in the Lone Star Showcase. The Chippewas' losses came to St. Bonaventure, 102-71, and Little Rock, 91-79, in the other two games of the Lone Star Showcase.
- The Chippewas possess one of the top offenses in the country, averaging 91 points per game, which is 10th nationally. CMU is eighth nationally in 3-pointers made per game (11.0), ninth in rebounds (45.0), and 12th in turnovers per game (10.4).
- According to KenPom.com, 50 percent of Central Michigan's field goal attempts come from 3-point range, which ranks ninth in the country. CMU is 16th nationally with 41.4 percent of its scoring coming from 3-point range.
- Marcus Keene, a 5-9 transfer from Youngstown State, enters the week as the nation's leading scorer at nearly 30 points per game (29.6). He shoots 51.5 percent from the field, 38.5 percent from 3-point range and 83.9 percent from the free throw line. He possesses five games of 30 or more points, including a season-high 36 in the win over Pepperdine. Keene averages a team-best 4.4 assists per game as well.
- Braylon Rayson is second on the team at 16.4 points per game. Last season, he tallied 23 points against the Tribe.
- In the Tribe's win over Central Michigan last season,
Omar Prewitt scored a game-high 23 points on his way to tallying his 1,000th career point. In total, five Tribe players scored in double figures, including
Daniel Dixon (19),
Connor Burchfield (14) and
Greg Malinowski (10).

Getting to the Free Throw Line
- The Tribe knocked down a season-best 28 free throws on 41 attempts in the victory over Liberty on Nov. 26. It marked the ninth time under head coach
Tony Shaver that W&M connected on 28 or more free throws in a game. The 41 attempts tied for the most in Shaver's 14 seasons. The last time W&M attempted 41 free throws was on Nov. 19, 2004 against Hartford.
- During head coach
Tony Shaver's 14 seasons, W&M is 69-24 (.742) when attempting 25 or more free throws in a game and 30-11 (.732) when taking 30 or more.
- Over the last 11 seasons, the College has posted a 96-35 (.733) mark when connecting on 15 or more free throws. The Tribe's record jumps to 42-10 (.808) over the last 11 seasons when hitting on 20-plus free throws.
- According to KenPom.com, as of Nov. 27, the Tribe ranks 56th nationally in free throw rate at 44.1. Free throw rate divides a team's number of attempted free throws by its field goal attempts, giving a look at a team's ability to get to the free throw line as part of its offense.

Becoming the (Whit)Man
- Redshirt junior
Jack Whitman has been the Tribe's best player of late, averaging 15 points per game over the last three contests. He tallied double-digits in each of the three games as well.
- Whitman notched a career-high 16 points on two occasions against Big South foes Presbyterian and Liberty and added a 13-point effort on a perfect 4-of-4 from the field in just 16 minutes at Duke. Against Presbyterian he connected on 5-of-6 from the field, while he was 8-of-11 at the charity stripe vs. Liberty.
- The Lexington, Ky., native currently ranks 27th in the CAA in scoring (11.2), 10th in rebounding (6.2), 13th in blocked shots (0.8) and second in the offensive rebounding (3.2).
- According to KenPom.com, as of Nov. 27, Whitman ranks eighth in offensive rebounding percentage, pulling down a rebound on 19 percent of the Tribe's offensive possessions. He is also second nationally in fouls drawn per 40 minutes at 10.3. Whitman is averaging 7.2 free throw attempts per game and hitting nearly five per contest.

- The Tribe lineup possesses three of the top 3-point shooters in the Colonial Athletic Association in senior
Daniel Dixon, junior
Connor Burchfield and sophomore
Paul Rowley. W&M has two of the top three in the CAA in 3-point percentage and two of the top four in 3-pointers made.
- Rowley, who has started all five games for W&M, ranks third in the league in 3-point percentage (52.4) and fourth in 3-pointers made per game (2.2). Over the last three games, Rowley is 8-of-13 from 3-point range.
- Burchfield, who is a 51.3 percent (58-of-113) career 3-point shooter, ranks second in the CAA in 3-point percentage, hitting 53.3 percent from long distance. Last season, Burchfield led the country in 3-point field goal percentage among players that made at least one per game. He connected on 56.3 percent (40-of-71) from long range, which was a W&M program record.
- Dixon ranks fourth in the CAA at 2.2 3-pointers made per game, while coming in 15th in 3-point percentage (34.4).

Helping Hand
- An important characteristic of the Tribe's offense under head coach
Tony Shaver has been its ability to share the basketball. For the fourth straight season and eighth time in the last nine years, W&M eclipsed the 400-assist mark in 2015-16.
- The Tribe is once again dishing out assists at a high rate. W&M leads the CAA and ranks 35th nationally at 17.4 per game in 2016-17. According to KenPom.com, the Tribe ranks third nationally in assist percentage (70.8), as of Nov. 27. That means that Green and Gold records an assist on over 70 percent of its made field goals.
- Last season, W&M dished out 500 assists for just the second time in school history, finishing with 501.
- The Tribe led the CAA and ranked 28th nationally at 16.2 assists per game in 2016. It marked the third time in the last four years that W&M led the CAA in assists.
- The 16.2 per game assist average ranked third in Tribe history and was the best since 1985.
- The Tribe ranked among the top 100 nationally in assists per game each of the last three years, including 39th in 2014-15 at 14.8.
- In 11 of Shaver's previous 13 seasons, W&M ranked among the top 100 in the country in assist percentage, according to KenPom.com. In fact, the Tribe has been among the top 50 in five of the last eight seasons. Assist percentage measures the percentage of made field goals assisted on by a team. Last season, the Tribe is 37th in assist percentage at 59.2.

The Dish with David Cohn
- After joining the Tribe as a transfer from Colorado State, junior
David Cohn has become a fixture at the point guard position in the Tribe lineup
- Cohn leads the CAA and ranks 19th nationally at 6.4 assists per game this season. According to KenPom.com, he ranks 38th nationally in assist rate.
- After dishing out eight assists in the season-opening win against Bridgewater, Cohn handed out nine compared to zero turnovers in the win over Presbyterian.
- With his seven assists at Duke, Cohn surpassed the 200 mark for his career. He dished out 29 assists in his lone season at Colorado State and has 176 in his two seasons (36 games) with the Tribe.
- Last season, Cohn dished out 144 assists, the third-best total in program history. His assist average ranked second in the CAA and 93rd nationally.
- Cohn did a wonderful job taking care of the basketball as well in 2016 and that too has continued this season. He led the CAA and ranked 26th nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.9) in 2015-16. This season, he leads the CAA and 29th nationally with a ratio of 4.0. His career assist-to-turnover ratio is 2.85.
- Twice last season, Cohn dished out 10 or more assists in a game. He is one of only four players in Tribe history, along with Scott Coval (3 in 1984-85), Nick D'Antoni (3 in 2003-04) and David Cox (2 in 1994-95), to record multiple games of 10 or more assists in the same season.
- At UNCW on Jan. 16, Cohn recorded his only career double-double with 14 points and a career-high 11 assists. Making his assist total even more impressive, Cohn only turned the ball over one time. It was the first performance in W&M history with at least 11 assists in a game compared to only one turnover.

Prewitt Among Active NCAA Division I Leaders
- Senior wing
Omar Prewitt ranks among the top 100 among NCAA division I players in six offensive categories and just outside the top 100 in another, as of Nov. 27.
- Prewitt is 19th among NCAA Division I players in scoring with 1,428 career points, a number that also leads the CAA. He is also 38th among active D1 players in scoring average (14.1).
- In rebounding, Prewitt ranks 84th nationally among active D1 players (475), a total that is sixth among CAA players.
- He ranks 20th among active D1 players in field goals made (474), 31st in free throws made (329) and 71st in 3-pointers made (151).
- Prewitt is just outside the top 100 in assists, ranking 104th with 238 helpers over his career.
