Scouting Hofstra
The preseason pick to win the CAA, Hofstra sits in a four-way first-place tie, with among others the Tribe, at 5-2. Overall, the Pride is 13-6 following a 96-92 triple overtime win on Thursday night at Northeastern. It marked HU's second straight OT contest after an 86-82 setback to James Madison at home on Jan. 16.

The Pride sports one of the top offenses in the CAA. Hofstra ranks second in the league and 41st nationally with an offensive efficiency of 111.2. They average 80.8 points per game overall, which ranks second in the CAA and 35th nationally, while pouring in a league-best 81.1 in CAA tilts. HU ranks among the top 50 nationally, hitting 8.8 3-pointers per game. Hofstra is second in the CAA in both offensive rebounding percentage (32.8) and total rebounds per game (40.1). The teams met in a classic CAA Tournament contest with the Green and Gold tallying a 92-91 double overtime win thanks to a Daniel Dixon 3-pointer with 0.8 seconds left.

Heading to Hofstra, Must Mean Snow
Each of the Tribe's last three trips to Hempstead has been altered due to snow. In 2014, W&M spent five hours in the Philadelphia International Airport after its connecting flight to New York was cancelled. They bused the rest of the way adding four more hours to the trip. Last season, the Tribe's flight from Norfolk to New York was cancelled right after boarding with John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York shut down due to snow. W&M bused to Long Island, arriving around 3 a.m., on Sunday morning for a 4 p.m. tip. This year, the Tribe pro-actively decided to bus to New York, leaving at 9 a.m., on Friday. Its original flight was later cancelled, and the game was pushed back a day due to Winter Storm Jonas.

20-Assist Games
In three of its last four games, the Tribe has dished out 20 assists, including its highest total since 1995. The Green and Gold tallied 21 assists in a win over Northeastern on Jan. 9, before recording 20 at UNCW on Jan. 16. In its most recent victory against Elon, W&M dished out 27 assists on its 36 made field goals, marking the fifth most assists in school history. It was the program's highest assist total since tallying a school-record 33 in a 1995 victory over George Mason. The Tribe is 4-1 this season and 17-1 over the six seasons when dishing out 20 or more assists in a game.

Sharp-Shooter
Sophomore Connor Burchfield has made a name for himself as a long-range bomber. A key piece off the Tribe bench, the 6-4 guard is shooting a remarkable 59.5 percent (25-of-42) with an effective field goal percentage of 84.6 percent and a true shooting percentage of 85.7 percent, according to KenPom.com. For the second time this season, Burchfield led the Tribe in scoring, erupting for 20 points on 6-of-7 from 3-point range in the win over Elon on Jan. 21. Earlier this season at Howard on Nov. 28, Burchfield tied W&M school records going a perfect 7-of-7 from the floor and 5-of-5 from 3-point range on the way to a career-high 19 points. He became the ninth Tribe player be at least a perfect 7-of-7 from the field and sixth to be perfect from 3-point range with at least four attempts. He own four double-figure scoring games off the bench for the Green and Gold this season. Burchfield is averaging 5.9 points per game, while shooting 59.7 percent (37-of-62) from the field.

It marked the sixth time this season that W&M hit 10 or more 3-pointers in a game. The Green and Gold is 5-1 in those contests. Under head coach Tony Shaver, W&M has made it a habit of hitting 10 or more 3-pointers in a game with the Elon game marking the 100th occasion it occurred during his tenure. Over the last eight seasons, W&M is averaging nearly 12 games of double-digit 3-pointers per campaign, meaning it hits 10 or more 3-pointers in a more than a third of its games each year.
