WILLIAMSBURG, VA. - The No. 55-ranked William and Mary women's tennis team dominated the College of Charleston, 7-0, in its first Colonial Athletic Association match of the season on Sunday at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. W&M dropped just one game in winning at all three doubles positions, before ceding only 14 total games in singles action. The Green and Gold ran its win streak to three matches in improving to 8-2, while the Cougars fell to 0-7.
W&M did not drop a game in taking the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles position to win the initial point of the match. Senior
Jeltje Loomans and junior
Leeza Nemchinov upped their mark to 7-2 at No. 1 with a 6-0 win over Jenny Falcone and Katherine Schofield. The duo improved to 13-3 overall, while the doubles win was the 98th in Loomans career, tying her for seventh on the Tribe's career list with W&M Hall of Famer Michelle O (1994-98).

Julia Casselbury and freshman
Cecily Wuenscher won for the first time as a team in clinching the doubles point. The pair downed Helena Nyikos and Mara Argyiou, 6-0, at No. 3. The freshman duo of
Maria Groener and
Olivia Thaler rounded out the sweep with their second win of the weekend at No. 2 doubles. The Tribe duo bounced Samantha Maddox and Brooke McAmis, 6-1, to improved to 10-4 on the year.
Wuenscher and Thaler did not drop a game in picking up convincing singles wins, while Loomans continued her strong dual-match campaign with a dominating win at No. 2 to quickly give W&M the team victory. Wuenscher won her third straight match and evened her dual-match ledger at 5-5 with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Grace Baker at No. 6. She pushed her overall record to 9-8.
Loomans dropped a single game in a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Argyiou. It was her third straight win as she improved to 15-4 overall and 8-2 in dual-match competition. Thaler clinched the Tribe victory with her fifth straight win, downing Schofield, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3. The Tribe rookie upped her mark to 13-8 overall and 7-3 in dual-match competition, including a 3-0 record at No. 3.
Nemchinov and Groener both won by 6-3, 6-1 score lines at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively. Nemchinov ran her impressive win streak to 10 matches, downing Maddox at No. 1. She jumped her season ledger to 17-2, including 9-0 at No. 1. Groener bounced Falcone at No. 4 to improve to 14-7 overall and 7-3 in dual-match play.
Casselbury rounded out the Tribe sweep with her fourth win of the year. The Tribe junior upended Nyikos, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 5 for her third straight win and improve to 2-0 in dual-match format.
The Tribe continues its homestand next weekend with a pair of matches at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center. The Green and Gold hosts its second straight CAA foe in league newcomer Elon on Friday, Feb. 27, at 4 p.m., before welcoming former CAA counterpart Georgia State to Williamsburg on Sunday, March 1, at 9 a.m.
