News and Notes
- Tuesday's contest with Central Michigan is the Tribe's final non-conference game of the year. It also kicks off a stretch of three games in five days with CAA play beginning on New Year's Eve. The Chippewas are the sixth Mid-American Conference foe that W&M has faced all-time.

- The W&M-CMU match-up pits one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the country against one of the top long-range defenses. Central Michigan ranks fifth nationally at 11 3-pointers made per game and are 18th in the country in 3-pointers attempted. W&M ranks eighth nationally limiting opponents to 26.6 percent from 3-point range.

- The Green and Gold owns a 12-game home non-conference winning streaking, dating back to December of 2013. The Tribe's home record over the last three seasons is 27-6 (.818).

- Junior Daniel Dixon hit the game-winning 3-pointer, his fifth of the game, in OT with 3.4 seconds left against High Point. Dixon currently ranks 24th nationally averaging 3.3 3-pointers made per game. He also ranks 38th nationally at 45.2 percent from long range.

- Junior Omar Prewitt, who leads W&M at 17.4 points per game, has scored in double figures in all 10 games this season. He is only 17 points away from becoming the 38th 1,000-point scorer in W&M history.

- Senior Terry Tarpey tied a career-high swiping six steals in the win over High Point. He ranks third nationally in steals per game, and according to KenPom.com, is fourth in the country in steal percentage.

Scouting Central Michigan
Central Michigan entered the 2015-16 season as the favorite to win the Mid-American Conference after claiming the regular season title a season ago. The Chippewas sit at 6-5 on the year, but have been limited with top player Chris Fowler only appearing in the last four games due to injury. With Fowler in the lineup, CMU is 3-1.

Offensively, the Chippewas are one of the top 3-point shooting teams in the country. CMU is shooting 37.1 percent from long-range, while averaging 11 3-pointers per game. Central Michigan ranks fifth in the country in 3-pointers made per game and 18th in 3-pointers attempted. They score at the 76.2 points per game clip, while shooting 43.9 percent from the floor. CMU opponents average 72.9 points per game, shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 32.9 percent from 3-point range.

Four players average in double figures for CMU led by Braylon Rayson at 15.3 points per game. He shoots 41.5 percent from long range and averages 2.5 3-pointers per game. Rayshawn Simmons scores 14 points per game and ranks 20th in the country at 6.2 assists per contest. Since returning to the lineup, Fowler, who was a First Team All-MAC selection last season, is averaging 13.3 points per game. John Simmons, who was a Third Team All-MAC pick last season, is the Chippewas top rebounder at 7.1 per game to go along with 11.2 points per contest. He is shooting 40.5 percent from 3-point range, averaging nearly three triples per contest.

Tribe vs. the Mid-American Conference
The Tribe is 2-9 all-time against the MAC, and CMU will be the sixth of the league's 12 teams that W&M has faced. The College's game against Central Michigan is its first against the Chippewas and the first against a MAC foe since facing Miami (Ohio) in back to back seasons during 2011-12 and 2012-13. The Tribe's victories against the MAC both came against Akron during the 1949-50 and 2001-02 seasons.

Déjà Dixon
After sending the Tribe to CAA Championship game with a 3-pointer in the closing second last season, junior Daniel Dixon was back at his game-winning ways in the Green and Gold's overtime triumph over High Point on Tuesday. Dixon knocked down a 3-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation that appeared to be the game-winner, but High Point's Haiishen McIntyre answered with a lay-up to send the game to extra time. The Great Falls, Va., native delivered the game-winner in overtime, knocking down a 24-foot 3-pointer from the right side with 3.4 seconds remaining. It was his second game-winner in as many seasons after his left corner triple with 0.8 seconds left to send the Green and Gold to a 92-91 double overtime victory in the CAA semifinal against Hofstra. Each of W&M's last two overtime victories have come via Dixon game-winning 3-pointers.

Closing in on 1,000
Junior Omar Prewitt is closing in on becoming the 38th player in W&M history to score 1,000 points in his career. He is only 17 points away from the career milestone. Prewitt will become the 11th player under head coach Tony Shaver to reach the 1,000-point mark, which is the most for a W&M head coach. He will also be the fourth Tribe player to achieve the milestone in the last three seasons.

Thief in the Night
In W&M's overtime win over High Point, senior Terry Tarpey not only returned to the Tribe lineup, but recorded a career-high tying six steals. The six steals also rank as the fourth-highest total in W&M history and the most since Randy Bracy had seven at The Citadel in 1998. Tarpey leads the CAA and ranks eighth nationally at 3.1 steals per game. According to the advanced statistical web site KenPom.com, he ranks fourth in the country with a steal percentage of 5.6. Steal percentage is the percentage of possessions that a player records a steal while he is on the court. With his six steals against High Point, Tarpey moved into eighth place on the Tribe's career steals list with 137.

Winning in Overtime
With its last-second win on Dec. 21, the Tribe won its third straight overtime game. The Tribe tallied victories its lone overtime contests each of the last three years. Along with junior Daniel Dixon's game-winning 3-pointer against High Point, he also hit the game-winning triple in double overtime against Hofstra on March 8, 2015. In 2013-14, W&M posted an 84-79 on the road in overtime at Howard. The three-game overtime winning streak is the longest in Tribe history.

Tarpey Steals = Tribe Points
While senior Terry Tarpey ranks among the national leaders in steals, the biggest impact for the Tribe has been in his steals have resulted in Tribe points. In total, his 28 steals on the year have directly led to 28 Green and Gold points. In Tarpey's nine contests this season, his steals are worth 3.1 points per game. His five steals against N.C. State on Nov. 13 led to nine W&M points, while his six steals against High Point led to six W&M points.

On the Defensive
A key to the Tribe's successful start to the 2015-16 season campaign has been its improved play on the defensive end. The Green and Gold has limited opponents to 65.6 points per game along with shooting percentages of 38.9 from the field and 26.6 from 3-point range. According to the advanced statistical website KenPom.com, the Tribe possesses a defensive efficiency rating of 98.7, which ranks third in the CAA and 88th nationally. It is the Tribe's best efficiency rating since the website began tracking in 2002. W&M leads the CAA in defensive 3-point percentage, while ranking second in scoring defense and field goal percentage defense. Nationally, the Green and Gold ranks eighth in defensive 3-point percentage, 45th in field goal percentage defense and 70th in scoring defense, as of Dec. 25.

Winning in the Non-Conference
With its victory over Mary Washington, the Tribe clinched a winning non-conference record for the fourth straight season under head coach Tony Shaver. In the Tribe's 80 years of conference affiliation, dating back to its first season in the South Conference in 1936-37, W&M posted a winning non-conference mark on 28 occasions. The 2015-16 non-conference mark sits as the fourth-best in program history, and the second best since W&M joined the CAA in 1984-85. A victory on Tuesday against Central Michigan would tie W&M's non-conference record with a second-best in program history and the best since joining in the CAA. The Tribe's seven non-conference wins in 2015-16 rank 11th in program history and fourth since joining the CAA. An eighth non-conference win would tie for the most since joining the CAA, rank sixth all-time and the most since 1982-83 when W&M had 10.
