WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The William & Mary women's basketball team continues a stretch of three games in five days when it welcomes Wofford to Kaplan Arena for a game on Thursday, Dec. 3. Tipoff for the contest is set for 7 p.m.
OPENING TIP The William & Mary women's basketball continues a stretch of three games in five days prior to the exam break as they return to Williamsburg to host Wofford in the only home game in quick stretch of games this week.
W&M enters tonight's game with a 5-1 record, which continues to be the team's best start to a season since the 1998-99 campaign. That year, the Tribe posted a 7-1 mark through eight games.
The Tribe meets Wofford for just the second time in series history when the Terriers travel to Williamsburg on Thursday night.
W&M leads the series 1-0 after picking up a 71-51 victory last year in Spartanburg, S.C.
LAST TIME OUTJunior
Marlena Tremba scored 16 of her game-high 21 points in the first half, and the Tribe women's basketball team survived a late rally in a 65-59 victory at Delaware State on Tuesday evening. Tremba added five rebounds, two assists, and four steals in her already third 20-point performance of the young season. Junior
Alexandra Masaquel added 10 points, 12 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in her first double-double of the year. W&M forced a season-high 24 turnovers on a season-high 16 steals in the game. Rendle and Tremba each had four thefts, while Boggs added three. For the second time this season, W&M won the battle on the glass by a 40-37 margin. Masaquel paced the Tribe with 11 boards, while Rendle had six, and Tremba had five.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERSWofford enters Thursday night game with a 1-6 record overall. The Terriers picked up a win over Jacksonville State, but fell last time out against South Carolina State. The Terriers enter tonight's contest scoing 56.7 points a night. Kentra Washington is the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.1 points a game. Ashton Fleming is just off of the pace and is in double-figures at 10.7 points per game. On the glass, 35.7 rebounds a night this season. Fleming and Washington also lead the squad in that category, but its Fleming leading the team with 8.1 rebounds, while Washington has grabbed 6.1 a game. Edgar I. Farmer, Jr. is in his 12th season at Wofford. He is a graduate of North Carolina.

THE ROAD AHEADW&M concludes a stretch of three games in five days as they travel to Clemson on Saturday, Dec. 5. Tipoff for the Tribe and Tigers is set for 2 p.m. Following a 12-day break for exams, the Tribe returns home to face in-state rival Norfolk State at Kaplan Arena on Dec. 17. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Alexandra Masaquel recorded the Tribe's first double-double of the season on Tuesday night at Delaware State. She scored 10 points and grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds. It was the fourth double-double of Masaquel's career.
GREEN THUMBSophomore
Jenna Green has helped the Tribe offense grow of late with her assist numbers. The sophomore has already had two games this season with eight assists, which tied a career-high. Green has had more than three assists in all but one games this season, and has 19 career games with three, or more, dimes.
STARTING OFF ON THE RIGHT FOOTThe first half has been very kind to the Tribe in the early stages of this season. W&M has held the lead in the first half in all six contests. The Tribe is outscoring its opponents 210-158 in the first half. A large part of the first half success, is the Tribe's second quarter performance, where they are outscoring opponents 109-66. The Green and Gold is yet to be outscored in the second quarter as well.
STEALING THE SHOWAfter struggling to force steals in its first three games this season, W&M has recorded 36 steals in its last three contests including, at least, 10 steals in the last three games. For the season, the Tribe is averaging 9.3 steals a game. Sophomore
Abby Rendle leads the team with 2.0 steals a game, while junior Marlena Treba is just off of the pace at 1.8 steals a night.

Abby Rendle is starting to come into her own as the Tribe's center. She has had a strong start to the campaign averaging 9.2 points per game, with 7.3 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks. Not only has she be strong defensively, she's also helped facilitate the Tribe offense. She is averaging 1.2 assists, including a career-high four dimes against Grambling State.
WEEKLY AWARDSJunior
Marlena Tremba became the Tribe's first player to earn a weekly award when she was tabbed the CAA's first player of the week on the week of Nov. 16. The junior poured in a career-high 26 points in the season opener against Mount St. Mary's on her way to the award.
GRAND COUNTDOWNWith her second quarter layup against Grambling State junior
Marlena Tremba eclipsed the 800-point mark of her just over two year career. Entering tonight's game against Wofford she is just 128 from her 1,000 career point. She would become the 17th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000-point plateau.
COMMONWEALTH CLASHOnce again the William & Mary schedule is full of natural rivals including six-games against schools from the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Tribe plays Richmond (Nov. 20), Norfolk State (Dec. 17), VCU (Dec. 21), Old Dominion (Dec. 29), and James Madison (Jan. 3 & Feb. 19). The Tribe is currently 0-1 against teams from Virginia.
STRONG STARTFor just the seventh time in the Division I history of the program, and the 22nd time in school history the Tribe women's basketball program opened a season with back-to-back wins. The strong start continued as the Tribe improved the 5-1 for the first time since 1998-99 season and are off to, at least a 5-1 start for the 10th time in school history. With a victory tonight, the Tribe would be 6-1 for the first time since 1998-99, when the Tribe started 7-1. It would be just the eighth time that the Tribe would have started, at least, 6-1.
RENDLE'S REJECTIONSSophomore
Abby Rendle picked up where she left off her freshman year in terms of controlling the paint. The sophomore is averaging 2.3 blocks a night, to open the season, which ranks first in the CAA. Rendle is in sixth place on the all-time blocks list in W&M history with 82. She needs three more blocks to move into fifth place all-time in school history. Tiffany Benson '10 is the school record holder for blocked shots with 255.
DOUBLE FIGURES FOR MARAfter scoring in double-figures in five of the first six games to open the regular season, junior
Marlena Tremba has scored in double-figures in 48 of her 66 career games as member of the Tribe. Tremba has also recorded 12, 20-point performances in her career, including three this season. She has already registered 872 career points, which is 13.2 points per game, which currently ranks sixth-best in W&M history. The junior is tied for 9th all-time with 12, 20-point performances. She is five double-digit performances from entering the top 10 in that category.
FLYIN' HAWAIIANJunior
Alexandra Masaquel has scored in double-figures in five of the first six games this season, including tying a career-high 18 points against Loyola. She has added 45 rebounds, seven blocks, 14 assists, and six steals. Last season, the Honolulu, Hawaii native, who had 10 double-figure scoring performances and averaged 7.5 points a contest to go along with 6.4 rebounds. She added 66 steals, 24 blocks, and 34 assists. She has also recorded four double-doubles.
TRIPLES FOR TREMBAJunior
Marlena Tremba has now hit a 3-pointer in all but six games of her career. She has connected on more than one 3-pointer in 46 of 66 games during her career. The junior hit a career-best six 3-pointers in the game at Towson on Jan. 6, 2015, and opened the 2015 season by hitting five triples against Mount St. Mary's. The Vienna, Virginia native ranks tied for fifth with 154 triples made, ranks fifth in 3-pointers attempted (478), and ranks seventh with .322 three-point field goal percentage.
