Alexandra Masaquel each chipped in 10 points. The Green and Gold had a school record 28 assists on 38 made baskets in the victory. With the win, the Tribe improves to 4-2 on the season, while the Lancers fall to 0-5.
The Tribe stormed out of the gates and never locked back jumping out on a 16-2 run. Tremba opened the scoring with a free throw, before Curtis hit a layup. After a Longwood basket, the Tribe scored the next 10 points. Senior Jazmen Boone started the rally with a triple followed by a Tremba 3-pointer. Masaquel hit a layup, before Tremba canned another three, followed by a freshman Jenna Green layup that ended the run, giving the Tribe a 14-point lead with 14:49 to go in the first half.
W&M continued its pressure and held a 48-26 lead at the break. The Tribe shot 61-percent from the field, including 62-percent clip from long range, in the first stanza. Tremba led the way with 17-points, while sophomore Brooke Stewart had nine points on three, 3-pointers.
The second half opened much like the first, with the Tribe using a 10-3 run to push its lead to 30-points. Masaquel and sophomore Latrice Hunter paced the run for the Green and Gold with four points each.
Thirteen of the 14 Tribe players that played on Saturday scored in the contest for the Tribe. Morrison turned in the best game of her career, scoring 10 points on 5-of-5 shooting, with two rebounds, one assist, and a block. Sophomore Kasey Curtis recorded a career-high seven rebounds and a career-best three assists. Freshmen Ashley DeLeonibus and Jenna Carroll each saw their first action for the Green and Gold and also scored their first career points. Classmates Jeanne Gaumont and Abby Rendle also recorded a career-highs with seven and six points, respectively.
On 38 made baskets, the Tribe recorded a school record 28 assists. It is the second time in head coach Ed Swanson's tenure that the Tribe has reset the school record for assists in a game. Green, Boone, and Hunter each recorded five dimes in the game.
W&M continued its hot shooting this season, and for the fourth time in six games the Tribe shot better than 40-percent from the floor. They shot a season-best 58.5-percent (38-of-65) from the field and a blistering 47.6-percent (10-of-21) from the long range.
The Tribe's 90 points were the most since the Tribe scored 97 points against UNCW on Feb. 16, 2014. It is the third time under the Swanson that the Green and Gold has eclipsed the 90-point plateau.
W&M returns to action for a pair of road games next week. The Tribe travels to Radford for a game on Tuesday, Dec. 2. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The College will also travel to La Salle on Saturday, Dec. 6.
