HIGH POINT, N.C. ? The William and Mary women's basketball team put four players in double figures, but couldn't overcome a late High Point rally as they fell 87-80 in overtime on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore

Alexandra Masaquel (11) were also in double figures for the Green and Gold. With the loss the Tribe falls to 2-2, while the Panthers improve to 2-2 on the young season.
High Point controlled the very early stages of the first half, jumping out to an early 7-4 lead. Teddy Vincent opened the game by hitting a 3-pointer. After the Tribe took its first lead on a pair of baskets by Boone. Latrice Phelps and Stacia Robertson hit buckets to give High Point a 7-4 lead with 17:56 to go in the first half.
Down 12-8, W&M used a 7-0 run to take a three-point lead midway through the first half of play. Boone hit a pair of layups sandwiched around triple from sophomore Latrice Hunter to account the scoring during the run.
At halftime, W&M held a seven-point lead, 44-37, which was its first lead at the break this season, do in large part to great shooting. The Tribe shot 55-percent from the field, which included a 50-percent clip from behind the 3-point line, in the first half. Boone (12 points) and Tremba (10 points) were already in double-figures at halftime.
The Tribe used a 7-0 run to extend its lead to 12 points with 13:26 to play in regulation. Green opened the streak with a layup, which was followed by a jumper from Tremba. Tremba came down on the next possession and canned a triple from the right wing to push W&M's lead to 58-46.
High Point used a 9-0 run midway through the second half to tie the game with 6:29 to play in the game. DeAnnisha Jackson opened the run with a pair of free throws. Vincent followed with a triple that cut the deficit to four. Jackson and Ashante Richard each followed with layups to tie the score at 65-65.
Down the stretch, the game remained a one-possession affair going back-and-forth. Down by two points with less than 10 seconds left, Green drove coast-to-coast to tie the score with just two seconds left in regulation - sending the game to overtime.
The Panthers controlled the overtime period, outscoring the Tribe, 12-5 and securing the 87-80 victory. Lindsey Puckett and Phelps each scored four points for the Panthers in overtime. HPU was led by Jackson and Kaylah Keys, who each had 20 points. Phelps finished as the third Panther in double figure with 17 points.
Green enjoyed her best day as a member of the Tribe, finishing with 16 points, five rebounds, six assists, and two steals. Boone and Masaquel each recorded double-doubles for the Tribe with 11 rebounds apiece. It was the second career double-double for both players. Tremba finished with her second-straight 20 point game and the sixth of her career. She has scored in double-figures in 26 of her 33 games, including all four games this season. Senior Mackenzie Morrison also had a career game, finishing with career-high nine points, four rebounds, a steal and a block.
The Green and Gold returns to Williamsburg for a pair of home games next week. The Tribe welcomes VCU on Wednesday, Nov. 26 for a 7 p.m. match up. W&M also will host Longwood as part of a men's and women's doubleheader on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 2 p.m.
