WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 19, 2013)—The William and Mary lacrosse team fell to James Madison, 18-7, on Senior Day at Martin Family Stadium at Albert-Daly Field on Friday afternoon.
Freshman Zoe Boger led the Tribe (4-11, 1-5) with three points (2g, 1a), while junior Taelor Salmon scored a pair of goals. Senior Kyrstin Mackrides, junior Jenna Dougherty and sophomore Kaleigh Noon also tallied a goal apiece, while Mackrides added a team-high three draw controls.
Although W&M got on the scoreboard first with a free position goal by Salmon less than a minute into the contest, JMU (10-5, 5-1) responded with an 8-2 run to close the half. Mackrides provided the Tribe's first goal during the stretch at 20:05, while Dougherty found the back of the cage at the 4:18 mark.
While JMU opened the second half with three unanswered goals to lead 11-3 following a score by Ali Curwin with 23:16 remaining, W&M responded with a 4-1 run to cut the deficit to 12-7 midway through the half. Boger scored twice during the stretch, while Noon and Salmon also added goals.
W&M was unable to get any closer the rest of the way, however, as JMU scored the contest's final six goals.
The Dukes outshot W&M, 34-19, and held advantages in ground balls (21-7) and draw controls (14-12).
Amy Roguski led JMU with seven points (6g, 1a) and five draw controls.
The Tribe will close out the season when it plays at George Mason on Sunday at 1 p.m.
