NEWARK, Del. (April 14, 2013) – The William and Mary lacrosse team fell at Delaware, 15-2, on Sunday afternoon.
Senior Kyrstin Mackrides and junior Taelor Salmon both recorded goals for W&M (4-10, 1-4), while sophomore Kaleigh Noon earned an assist. Senior Katie Stillwell added three ground balls, three draw controls and a caused turnover.
Although the contest was tied a 1-1 following Salmon's goal with 24:01 remaining in the first half, UD (9-5, 3-2) rattled off a 13-0 run to pull ahead. While a score by Mackrides with 8:46 left in the second half ended the run, W&M was unable to get any closer the rest of the way.
W&M owned a 10-9 edge in draw controls, but the Blue Hens outshot the Tribe, 35-11, and held a 20-9 advantage in ground balls.
Chelsea Fay and Caitlin McCartney led Delaware with four goals apiece.
The Tribe will close out its home slate when it hosts James Madison for Senior Day next Friday at 4 p.m.
