Dessi Koleva (Torrance, Calif.)
was named to the VaSID University Division Volleyball All-State second-team Wednesday, in recognition of her terrific rookie campaign. She is the sixth all-state selection from W&M in the past five years.
Koleva helped lead the Tribe to the CAA Tournament in 2012, averaging 2.24 kills and 2.61 points per set. Her defensive numbers were also strong, with 2.41 digs per set and 0.48 blocks per set. She was named the CAA Rookie of the Year and second-team All-CAA, and was also picked as the MVP of the Colonial Challenge in-season tournament. Koleva was picked as the league's Rookie of the Week four times over the course of the season, and also was named the ECAC Player of the Week once.
