Scouting the Tribe
Fresh off a 59-50 win over Towson on Thursday night, W&M enters Sunday's contest with an overall record of 3-14 and a 1-5 mark in CAA action.  In the game against the Tigers, the Tribe forced 20 turnovers, which resulted in 30 points for the Green and Gold.  W&M never trailed in the second half and led by as many as 15 points as it improved its all-time record against Towson to 13-8.  Senior Janine Aldridge led W&M with 15 points, while sophomore Anna Kestler poured in a career-high 11 points.

Senior Emily Correal is averaging 16.2 ppg and 8.4 rpg, which rank fourth and sixth in the CAA, respectively.  Classmate Janine Aldridge ranks ninth in the league in scoring (13.5) but her 54 3-poitners on the season are tops in the league.  Not only does Aldridge lead the CAA in 3-pointers per contest (3.4) but the mark also ranks fourth in the nation.

W&M's 62.2 points per game rank seventh in the CAA, while its 11.6 steals per contest rank 42nd nationally (as of Jan.21) and second in the league.  Furthermore, of the Tribe's 382 made field goals this season, 250 have been accounted for with assists, giving the Green and Gold an average of 14.7 per outing, which ranks third in the CAA.  From 3-point range, the Tribe has netted 106 treys on the season, which is second most in the league, only behind Northeastern (143).   

Scouting Old Dominion
Under the direction of second-year head coach Karen Barefoot Old Dominion enters Sunday's matinee with a record of 13-5 and a CAA mark of 4-2.  The Monarchs, who stand fifth in the CAA, are averaging 66.2 ppg, which ranks third in the league.  Defensively, ODU's scoring defense ranks third in the CAA (55.8), which is aided by its league leading 3-point field goal percentage defense (.251).

In its last outing, ODU defeated Georgia State, 68-45, in Norfolk, Va.  Senior Jackie Cook led the Lady Monarchs with 15 points in 26 minutes of action.  In addition to Cook's total, sophomore Shae Kelley netted 12 points and 12 rebounds in the route over the Panthers.

For the year, Cook leads ODU with 13.9 ppg, which ranks eighth in the CAA.  Furthermore, her free-throw percentage of .769 (50-of-65) stands fifth in the league.  Kelley is netting 12.0 points per outing to go along with a team-leading 8.4 rebounds a night, which rank fourth in the CAA.  The Denver, Colo., native also ranks fourth and seventh in the league in steals (2.3 pg) and blocked shots (1.2 pg).

News and Notes:
- Sunday's game will be the 87th meeting between ODU and W&M, as the Monarchs own a 68-18 series advantage.  Last season, in the only meeting between the two schools, the Tribe defeated the Lady Monarchs, 83-80 at Kaplan Arena.  Seniors Emily Correal and Janine Aldridge led W&M to its first victory over ODU since 1975 with 18 and 15 points, respectively.

- The Tribe and ODU match-up is part of the Optima Health Challenge, a running score of all the direct competitions between the two schools. For the second consecutive year, W&M and ODU have partnered with title sponsor, Optima Health, for the Challenge. A champion will be named at the end of the 2012-13 athletic season and receive the Optima Health Trophy. The scoring system awards 10 points for the overall winner in every regular season ODU-W&M athletic competition. A total of 120 points (10 points for football, 10 points for men's basketball, 10 points for women's basketball and 10 points per nine Olympic Sports) will be awarded for 2012-13.  The winning school will be the first to tally 65 points.  Each of the Tribe-Monarch meetings in basketball will be worth 5 points apiece.  W&M currently leads the Challenge, 25-20.

- Senior Janine Aldridge, who is the College's all-time leader in 3-pointers made with 275, is in range to become W&M's all-time leader in steals.  The Massapequa, N.Y., native is just 30 thefts shy of passing Jen Sobota '03 for the all-time mark (257).  In the College's outing at Northeastern, Aldridge set a career-high with seven steals against the Huskies.  This season, Aldridge is averaging 2.8 steals per game, which stands second in the CAA.  Aldridge and Sobota are the only players in W&M history to tally 1,000 points, 200 3-pointers and 200 steals.

- The William and Mary women's basketball team will host its annual Breast Cancer Awareness game "Hoops for a Cure" on Friday, Feb. 15, against Northeastern at 8 p.m.  Admission to the contest will be free of charge for fans who wear pink.  Promotional t-shirts will go on sale prior to Feb. 15 and can be purchased at upcoming men's basketball home games or by calling the W&M Women's Basketball Office at 757-221-3140.  T-shirts will be sold for the price of $10 for students and $15 for adults.  This year's "Hoops for a Cure" game against the Huskies will be televised on Comcast Sports Network Mid-Atlantic and the Comcast Sports Network New England.

- Sophomore Anna Kestler is finding her niche as the Green and Gold's premier point-guard.  The Pittsburgh, Pa., native has dished out 48 assists on the season compared to only 27 turnovers, which gives her an assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8), which ranks fourth in the CAA.  Furthermore, in the Tribe's last outing against Towson, Kestler netted a career-high 11 points in W&M's 59-50 victory.

- Senior Emily Correal has made 104 starts for the Green and Gold over the course of her career.  Her 104 starts are tied for fourth all-time in the Tribe record books with Angie Evans '91.  With at least 13 games remaining in the season, Correal will need 10 starts to pass Jen Sobota (113) for the W&M record for most starts in a career.
