BOSTON, Mass. - The William and Mary women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker in overtime at Northeastern, 71-69, on Thursday night from Solomon Court.  In a contest that saw nine lead changes and seven ties, the Huskies prevailed for the overtime win.  With the loss, the College falls to 2-12 on season and 0-3 in CAA play, while Northeastern improves to 9-4 on the year and 2-0 in league action.

Senior Emily Correal led the Tribe with a game-high 21 points, while classmate Janine Aldridge finished the night with 19 points and a career-high seven steals.  Sophomore Anna Kestler netted six points and dished out five assists, while senior Jaclyn McKenna ripped down a team-high nine rebounds to go along with eight points.  Sophomore Kyla Kerstetter finished the contest with seven points on three made field-goals.

W&M finished the game shooting 35.9 percent (28-of-78) from the floor, while it netted eight 3-pointers on 24 attempts.  Of its 28 made field-goals, 14 were accounted for with assists.  From the charity stripe, the Green and Gold was 5-of-8 (62.5 percent).  The Tribe capped the night holding the advantage in second-chance points (15-8) and bench points (13-11).

In the early going, the College established a seven-point advantage, 11-4, at the 14:11 mark.  Kestler initiated the scoring with a jumper at the 18:58 juncture, while Correal's lay up capped the opening burst.

W&M's margin swelled to eight, 19-11, with 9:59 left in the half as Boston area native freshman Brooke Stewart knocked down her third 3-pointer of the season off an assist from Aldridge.  The Huskies closed the gap and eventually took a 31-27 lead at intermission.

As the second-half got underway, Northeastern maintained the advantage but the Tribe was steadily chipping away at the Huskie advantage.  With 8:06 remaining in the contest, W&M regained the lead, 46-45, after a Kerstetter lay up courtesy of senior Chanel Murchison's assist. 

For the remainder of regulation, the lead changed hands on six occasions and with 2:09 remaining the W&M advantage was at four, 58-54.  The lead reached four after Aldridge drilled a trifecta just as the shot clock expired.  However, NU managed to tie the affair, 58-58, but it was the Tribe who owned possession with just 16 seconds left to play.  On the final play of regulation, Aldridge slipped baseline off of a screen and got off a shot that seemed destined to fall but rattled off the rim instead.

In overtime action, the Huskies seized control early but W&M tied things up, 60-60, after a Correal lay up at the 3:41 mark.  After the NU lead extended back to three points, sophomore Jazmen Boone cut the deficit to one, 65-64, after the Virginia Beach, Va., native netted a jumper at the 1:27 juncture.  However, that's as close as the College would get to over taking the NU lead.

Jewel Tunstull led Northeastern with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Amencie Mercier and Deanna Kerkhof chipped in with 15 points apiece.  NU finished the contest shooting 41.4 percent (24-of-58) from the field, and only 25 percent (6-of-24) from 3-point range.  The Huskies capitalized from the foul line as it went 17-of-19 (89.5 percent).

The Tribe will continue Colonial Athletic Association play at James Madison on Thursday, Jan. 17.  Tip-off from the Convocation Center in Harrisonburg, Va., is slated for 7 p.m.
